illustrated U. PinderÆs treatise \i Hortus conclusus\i0 . Between 1510 and 1514 he engraved various versions of the \i Witches\i0 , developing his taste for complex compositions and fantastic effects. In 1511 he painted the main altarpiece for Freiburg
