The Pancreas makes a hormone called insulin. Insulin helps the body to store sugar in the liver. This sugar is used when the sugar level in the body drops to a low level.
If insulin is not produced, sugar will not be stored in the liver - it will pass out of the body as urine.
People whose pancreas does not produce insulin can lose weight and waste away. This condition is called diabetes. People who have diabetes need to have regular injections of insulin.
