  13.     O'Brien and Keiko sitting on the floor a few yards from 
  14.     each other. The ball's rolling from Keiko toward 
  15.     O'Brien, who scoops it up.
  16.  
  17.                     O'BRIEN
  18.             This is a ball, Molly.
  19.  
  20.     Molly squats about ten feet from her parents, her 
  21.     attention riveted on what. they're doing. For Molly's 
  22.     benefit, Keiko gestures for the ball.
  23.  
  24.                     KEIKO
  25.                 May I have the ball?
  26.  
  27.     He rolls it back across the deck toward his wife. 
  28.     Their repeated gestures and requests are a conscious 
  29.     attempt to re-familiarize Molly with the connection 
  30.     between language and action.
  31.  
  32.     The room has changed since we last saw it. New items 
  33.     have been introduced to re-acclimate her to the objects 
  34.     of the twenty-fourth century and to try to stimulate 
  35.     communication. An area along one wall, opposite from 
  36.     the boulders and plants, has been adapted to 
  37.     accommodate the O'Brien's needs while they spend time 
  38.     with Molly. It contains a COUCH with a few PILLOWS and 
  39.     BLANKETS, a table and a CABINET.
  40.  
  41.                     KEIKO
  42.                 (to Molly)
  43.             Would you like the ball?
  44.  
  45.     Molly stares at her watchfully.
  46.  
  47.                     KEIKO
  48.             Here.
  49.  
  50.     Keiko rolls it gently toward her. As soon as it's 
  51.     within reach, Molly snatches it up and stares at them.
  52.
