  4. 1    INT. EXCAVATION TUNNEL

  6.     Ranjen KORAL, an old but vigorous Bajoran monk, leads 
  7.     Sisko, Kira and JAKE down a gloomy passageway cut 
  8.     through layers of reddish-brown SEDIMENT. The passage 
  9.     is lit every so often with makeshift LIGHTS, but there 
  10.     are nowhere near enough to make their PALM BEACONS 
  11.     unnecessary. Support BEAMS line the ceiling and the 
  12.     rough contours of the walls. Although a deeply 
  13.     religious man, Koral wears the practical work clothes 
  14.     of a veteran archaeologist.

  16.                     KORAL
  17.                 (glancing back at Sisko) 
  18.             I can't tell you how pleased we 
  19.             are by your visit, Emissary.
  20.  
  21.                     SISKO
  22.             I'm happy to be here, Ranjen.

  24.                     KORAL 
  25.             There's no need to keep calling me 
  26.             "Ranjen." I'm a simple monk. My 
  27.             order is quite informal.

  29.                     SISKO
  30.             You've certainly been busy. The 
  31.             last time I visited these ruins, 
  32.             none of these tunnels had been cut 
  33.             yet.

  35.                     KORAL 
  36.             It's been a great deal of work, 
  37.             but we do it gladly. Excavating 
  38.             the Holy City is a privilege. Our 
  39.             efforts are an expression of our
  40.             faith in the Prophets... and in 
  41.             the Emissary.

  43.     Sisko accepts this with a gracious nod. Kira and Jake 
  44.     follow several paces behind. Kira notices that Jake is 
  45.     studying his father closely.
