  10.             Vreenak's shuttle, they'll find 
  11.             the burnt remnants of a Cardassian 
  12.             optolythic data-rod which 
  13.             miraculously survived the 
  14.             explosion. After painstaking 
  15.             forensic examination, they'll 
  16.             discover that the rod contains a 
  17.             recording of a high-level Dominion 
  18.             meeting at which the invasion of 
  19.             Romulus was being planned.
  20.  
  21.                     SISKO
  22.             And then they'll discover it's a 
  23.             fraud.

  25.                     GARAK
  26.             I don't think so. Any 
  27.             imperfections in the forgery will 
  28.             appear to be a result of the 
  29.             explosion.
  30.                 (building, forceful) 
  31.             So, with a seemingly legitimate 
  32.             data-rod in one hand and a dead 
  33.             senator in the other, I ask you 
  34.             captain, what conclusion would you 
  35.             draw?

  37.     Sisko takes a beat, tries to let his temper subside.

  40.             That Vreenak obtained the rod on 
  41.             Soukara and that the Dominion 
  42.             killed him to prevent him from 
  43.             returning to Romulus with it.

  45.                     GARAK
  46.             Precisely. And the more the 
  47.             Dominion protests their innocence, 
  48.             the more the Romulans will believe 
  49.             they're guilty... because it's 
  50.             exactly what the Romulans would've 
  51.             done in their place!

  53.     Sisko glares at him, but it's clear that he sees the 
  54.     logic of what Garak's saying, as much as he doesn't 
  55.     like to hear it.
