  7. 41   INT. SISKO'S QUARTERS

  9.     Sisko is rubbing his temples. The bottle has been set 
  10.     aside.
  11.  
  12.                     SISKO 
  13.             So it blew up in my face. The 
  14.             lies and the compromises, the 
  15.             inner doubts and the 
  16.             rationalizations -- all for 
  17.             nothing. Vreenak was furious. 
  18.             I can't say I blamed him. I'd 
  19.             have reacted the same way. After 
  20.             telling me in no uncertain terms 
  21.             that he intended to expose this 
  22.             "vile deception" to the entire 
  23.             Alpha Quadrant, he got back in his 
  24.             shuttle and headed home.
  25.                 (beat) 
  26.             There didn't seem to be anything 
  27.             more to do... so I went back to 
  28.             work.
  29.                 (beat) 
  30.             Two days later we got the news.

  32.                                     CUT TO:

  34. 42   INT. WARDROOM
  35.  
  36.     Sisko posts another casualty list on the monitor and 
  37.     turns to face another room full of N.D. officers, along 
  38.     with Dax and Bashir. Sisko's mind is far away and he 
  39.     moves through the crowd of people without seeing most 
  40.     of them. He finds a quiet corner of the room and sits 
  41.     down heavily in a chair as the others crowd around the 
  42.     monitor, searching the list of names once again. 
  43.     Bashir and Dax emerge from the crowd and move toward 
  44.     him. Sisko looks at them expectantly.
  45.  
  46.                     BASHIR
  47.                 (to Sisko)
  48.             No one for me today.
  49.  
  50.                     DAX
  51.             I had one -- Maria Tatalia -- 
  52.             wounded in action.
