  4. 82   ANOTHER SECTION OF CORRIDOR (OPTICAL)

  6.     as Kira and Basso arrive at the door to Gul Dukat's 
  7.     quarters. The guard at the door scans Basso, then 
  8.     turns to Kira.
  9.  
  10.     A tense moment as the guard scans Kira from head to 
  11.     toe -- or rather, toe to head. A poker-faced Kira 
  12.     awaits the result. After a beat, the guard steps aside 
  13.     and waves them inside.
  14.  
  15. 83   INT. DUKAT'S QUARTERS
  16.  
  17.     The doors OPEN, allowing Kira and Basso to ENTER. 
  18.     Dukat and Meru are seated, finishing their dinner.
  19.  
  20.                     MERU
  21.             I didn't expect to see you again.
  22.  
  23.                     KIRA
  24.             I came because I owe you an
  25.             apology. Those things I said...
  26.             they were unfair.
  27.                 (a beat)
  28.             I'd like us to be friends again.
  29.  
  30.                     MERU
  31.                 (smiles)
  32.             So would I.
  33.  
  34.     Meru looks over to Dukat to make sure it's okay. Dukat 
  35.     would rather not encourage this friendship, but he 
  36.     doesn't want to deny Meru what she wants -- at least 
  37.     not yet.
  38.  
  39.                     DUKAT
  40.                 (pleasant, hiding the edge)
  41.             Whatever pleases you, my dear.
  42.  
  43.     Meru gets up and goes over to Kira and embraces her 
  44.     warmly. This is very difficult for Kira, but she knows 
  45.     she has to play out the role; she hugs her mother back.
  46.  
  47.                     MERU
  48.             Can I get you something?
  49.  
  50.                     KIRA
  51.             Maybe later.
