  10. 1    INT. SISKO'S QUARTERS

  12.     We're at the end of a dinner party that SISKO has
  13.     thrown for the senior staff, but it may be the most 
  14.     downbeat social affair on DS9 in the last two years. 
  15.     BASHIR and O'BRIEN are getting quietly drunk at one end 
  16.     of the table, a bottle of scotch sitting between them. 
  17.     KIRA and ODO are sitting next to them. WORF is 
  18.     standing off to one side, seeming to inspect Sisko's 
  19.     art collection, but it's really an excuse to avoid the 
  20.     after-dinner conversation. Sisko is at the head of the 
  21.     table, trying to be the genial host, but his heart just 
  22.     isn't in it tonight.

  24.     JAKE and NOG are removing the dirty dishes from the 
  25.     table and they exchange a few glances between them as 
  26.     the depressing evening drags on.
  27.  
  28.                     O'BRIEN
  29.             Did you hear about the Tiananmen? 
  30.             She was reported missing last 
  31.             night. Near the Cardassian border.

  33.                     KIRA
  34.             That's three in the last three 
  35.             weeks.

  37.                     BASHIR 
  38.             We're going to run out of ships at 
  39.             this rate.
  40.  
  41.                     KIRA
  42.             That's not funny.

  44.                     BASHIR 
  45.             It wasn't meant to be. Unless 
  46.             Starfleet Command starts doing 
  47.             something about the Dominion, the 
  48.             situation's just going to get worse.

  51.             What do you want Julian? A war?

  53.     But Sisko jumps in before Bashir has the chance to 
  54.     reply.
