  4. 12   EXT. SETTLEMENT- MATTE SHOT (OPTICAL)
  5.  
  6.     A cluster of adobe-like buildings, surrounded by  
  7.     farmland. Scattered around the main settlement we see 
  8.     other, smaller clusters of buildings. Windmills and 
  9.     irrigation pipes dot the landscape.
  10.  
  11. 13   EXT. TOWN SQUARE - DAY (OPTICAL)
  12.  
  13.     as Sisko, Dax, Worf, and O'Brien MATERIALIZE. The 
  14.     buildings that surround them show a range of 
  15.     architectural styles, as if they were built over years 
  16.     of technological advances -- a wooden building with a 
  17.     thatched roof abuts an adobe-type building, which 
  18.     stands next to a brick and tile structure.
  19.  
  20.     As the crew beams in, all activity in the settlement 
  21.     stops. Some CHILDREN who were playing with a BALL halt 
  22.     their game and stare at our people with a mixture of 
  23.     curiosity and awe. The people in the market stop 
  24.     inspecting the wares on the CARTS. A man who was DYEING 
  25.     FABRIC in a barrel pulls his hands out and wipes them 
  26.     on a cloth. A woman who was sifting pebbles from a 
  27.     sack of beans with a SIEVE stops what she's doing.
  28.  
  29.     Like Yedrin and Miranda, the inhabitants are dressed in 
  30.     practical, worn-looking clothes. These are working 
  31.     people, and their physicality expresses this in every 
  32.     way. They are a racially mixed group -- Black, 
  33.     Caucasian, Asian. A few of the men wear beards, and we 
  34.     might notice that a few of the inhabitants have subtle 
  35.     Trill markings, while a few others have subtle Klingon-
  36.     style forehead ridges.
  37.  
  38.     Yedrin and Miranda approach the crew, who are taking in 
  39.     their surroundings. Yedrin holds his hands clasped 
  40.     behind his back as he approaches, much the same way 
  41.     Jadzia does. As Miranda extends a hand to Sisko, 
  42.     Yedrin glances at Jadzia.
  43.  
  44.                     MIRANDA
  45.             Miranda O'Brien.
  46.  
  47.     O'Brien reacts -- this is an odd coincidence. Yedrin 
  48.     introduces himself to Sisko.

  55.     This is starting to get weird.
