  10.     She smiles, accepting the sincerity of his wish...

  12.     With a final look, Trevean walks past Bashir and out 
  13.     the door, having given him a glimpse of what drives 
  14.     him. A quiet moment, then...

  16.                     EKORIA 
  17.             Trevean means well... he's a kind 
  18.             man, in his own way...
  19.  
  20.     Off Bashir as he considers her words...

  22.                                     CUT TO:

  24. 42   INT. TENEMENT HOUSE - DAYBREAK

  26.     as Ekoria arches her back and cries out in pain...

  28. 43   WIDEN

  30.     to include Bashir, poised between her legs... she's in 
  31.     labor...

  33.                     BASHIR
  34.             That's it... push.

  36.     Ekoria tries to gather her breath for another push...

  38.                     BASHIR
  39.             Good... now breathe...

  41.     She pants, tries to swallow back the pain... after a 
  42.     beat, Bashir breaks into a grin...
  43.  
  44.                     BASHIR 
  45.             I can see his head. I'm going to 
  46.             turn it around... gather your 
  47.             strength for one last push...
  48.  
  49.     She steals herself, draws in a breath... and pushes -- 
  50.     a moment, then she hears the SOUND she's been hanging 
  51.     on to life for: her baby's CRY...
  52.  
  53.     She smiles through her pain... falls back on her bed. 
  54.     The effort of giving birth has brought her to the brink 
  55.     of death...
