  9.     Keiko and Bashir walk and talk. Bashir's trying to
  10.     explain O'Brien's situation.
  11.  
  12.                     BASHIR
  13.             The bottom line is... there's not
  14.             much I can do. The Argrathi
  15.             didn't just install memory
  16.             implants. They ran O'Brien
  17.             through a time-compressed
  18.             simulation of the prison
  19.             experience. In his mind, he
  20.             actually lived those twenty years.
  21.             He reacted to what was happening,
  22.             felt pain, fear, hatred, made
  23.             choices and decisions that
  24.             affected the outcome. And as a
  25.             result, those memories are real.
  26.             The only way I could get rid of
  27.             them would be to wipe his entire
  28.             memory clean... and clearly that's
  29.             not an option.

  31.     Keiko tries to hide her disappointment, but it's not
  32.     easy.

  34.                     KEIKO
  35.             I understand.
  36.  
  37.     Bashir's just as disappointed as she is. But he tries
  38.     to put the best spin on O'Brien's situation.

  40.                     BASHIR
  41.             Listen, Keiko, he's been through
  42.             some terrible things in his
  43.             life... during the war on Setlik
  44.             Three, as a prisoner of the
  45.             Paradans, during his trial on
  46.             Cardassia Prime. And he's always
  47.             survived.
  48.                 (trying to convince them 
  49.                 both)
  50.             In the long run, he's going to be
  51.             okay. It's just going to take
  52.             time.

  54.     Keiko nods. She believes in her husband. But she also
  55.     knows his recovery's not going to be easy.
