  9.             three vipers, and now the Sword of 
  10.             Stars -- each of them predicted by 
  11.             Trakor's prophecy.

  13.     Kira steels herself, moves closer to Sisko.  This is difficult 
  14.     for her to say to him.

  16.                     KIRA
  17.                 (quiet)
  18.             And then there's you... the Emissary.  
  19.             You're here... and you have a decision 
  20.             to make... just like in the prophecy.

  22.     A beat.

  24.                     SISKO
  25.             Do you really believe I'm the 
  26.             Emissary?

  28.                     KIRA
  29.             I guess I always have.  But I've 
  30.             never wanted to admit it to myself.
  31.                 (smiles)
  32.             It's hard to work for someone who's 
  33.             a religious icon.

  35.     Sisko gets up, moves around the room for a moment.

  38.             I hope this doesn't offend your 
  39.             beliefs, but I don't think of myself 
  40.             as an icon... religious or otherwise.

  42.             I'm a Starfleet Officer, and I have 
  43.             a mission to accomplish.  If I'm 
  44.             going to call it off, it has to be 
  45.             for a concrete reason, something 
  46.             solid, something... Starfleet.

  49.             All right, how about this?  The 
  50.             prophets -- the aliens that live in 
  51.             the wormhole, as you call them -- 
  52.             exist outside of linear time.  They 
  53.             know the past, present, and the 
  54.             future.
