  12.             only way he'll accept that is if you 
  13.             say he's no longer needed... that 
  14.             you can do this alone.  Now, if that's 
  15.             a lie... then so be it.

  17.     Winn studies him for a moment, Bashir meets her gaze steadily.

  20.             That doesn't sound like a... Starfleet 
  21.             officer.

  24.             I'm a doctor first.  And right now, 
  25.             I'm trying to give my patient his 
  26.             best chance to live.  The way to do 
  27.             that is to put him in stasis.  Bareil 
  28.             knows that... but his desire to 
  29.             complete these negotiations is so 
  30.             strong that he's forcing me to keep 
  31.             him conscious and mentally alert, 
  32.             even though it may kill him.

  35.             None of us wants that to happen, 
  36.             Doctor.  But unless I'm mistaken... 
  37.             the decision regarding Bareil's 
  38.             treatment is up to him.

  41.             Yes... as the patient, it's his right 
  42.             to make that choice.  But I'm asking 
  43.             you to help me change his mind.

  45.     Winn gets up and paces around the room for a moment.  Bashir 
  46.     is pulling out all the stops here in a desperate attempt to 
  47.     sway her.

  52.             are your negotiations... let this be 
  53.             your moment in history.  Finish the 
  54.             talks on your own and you won't have
