  6.     Suddenly on the monitor, a PINPOINT OF LIGHT flashes on 
  7.     in Bareil's brain.  Bashir reacts.
  8.  
  9.                     BASHIR
  10.             Wait a minute... A neuron just fired 
  11.             in his cerebral cortex.
  12.  
  13.     The Nurse places Bareil's arm back on the table and moves to 
  14.     Bashir.  And as she does so, another pinpoint of light appears 
  15.     in the brain schematic.
  16.  
  17.                     BASHIR
  18.             There it is again.
  19.  
  20.     Bashir thinks... looks over at Bareil.  He moves over and 
  21.     touches Bareil's arm -- and as he does so, another pinpoint 
  22.     of light appears in his brain.
  23.  
  24.                     BASHIR
  25.             His nerves... his nerves are still 
  26.             transmitting electrical impulses to 
  27.             his brain...
  28.  
  29.                     NURSE
  30.             How can that be?  His brain activity 
  31.             level is zero.  His nervous system 
  32.             should be completely inactive.
  33.  
  34.                     BASHIR
  35.             I don't know... but it means that 
  36.             his body is still capable of sending 
  37.             messages to the brain... except the 
  38.             brain can't process those messages.
