  7.     desk.

  9. 56   NEW ANGLE - CLOSE ON A MONITOR (OPTICAL)

  12.     The monitor on Iliana's desk brings up a freeze frame of 
  13.     ILIANA, sitting in her room.  Kira looks at it for a beat, 
  14.     then seems to come to a decision.

  16.                     KIRA
  17.             Begin playback.
  18.  
  19.     In response to Kira's command, the image comes to life and 
  20.     Iliana starts talking.  Iliana is a young woman trying very 
  21.     hard to be brave and professional.

  23.                     ILIANA
  24.                 (on monitor, smiles)
  25.             Hello, Iliana.  Welcome home.
  26.                 (gets serious)
  27.             I've been asked to make these 
  28.             recordings for myself, for you, to 
  29.             help my memory recover when I get 
  30.             back.

  38.             I go in for my surgery tomorrow.  
  39.             I'm going to miss Cardassia.  But I 
  40.             know I'm doing the right thing.  The 
  41.             terrorism on Bajor has to be stopped.
  42.                 (sadder)
  43.             Father doesn't want me to go.  Mother 
  44.             just looks unhappy all the time.  I 
  45.             hope they'll understand some day.  I 
  46.             want them to be proud of me.
