  7.             I mean... the author is supposed to 
  8.             be chronicling seven generations of 
  9.             a single family... but he tells the 
  10.             same story over and over again... 
  11.             All the characters live lives of 
  12.             selfless duty to the state... get 
  13.             old... and die.  And then the next 
  14.             generation comes along and does it 
  15.             all over again.

  17.     Garak rubs his temples.  He doesn't seem to be in his usual 
  18.     good spirits.

  21.             That's the whole point, Doctor.  The 
  22.             repetitive epic is the most elegant 
  23.             form of Cardassian literature, and 
  24.             The Never-Ending Sacrifice is it's 
  25.             greatest achievement.

  28.             But the characters never really come 
  29.             alive.  I mean, there's more to life 
  30.             than serving the state.

  33.             A Federation viewpoint if ever I 
  34.             heard one.

  41.             move to the front of the line?  Tell 
  42.             them it's a medical emergency or 
  43.             something.

  48.                 Garak left off)

  50.             book... by a different writer...
