  16.             You're a Starfleet Commander.  I'm 
  17.             sure you've had to discipline members 
  18.             of your crew...

  21.             Discipline is one thing.  Torture is 
  22.             another.

  24.                     ALIXUS
  25.             The first thing this community 
  26.             accepted was the need to establish 
  27.             rules of conduct.  All of us, 
  28.             including Stephan here, approved 
  29.             this form of punishment as necessary 
  30.             and fair.

  32.     Alixus turns away from Sisko, faces Stephan, takes his hand 
  33.     in both her own.  Her demeanor is kind, caring:

  39.                     STEPHAN
  40.                 (genuinely contrite)
  41.             I'll be all right.  I'm sorry Alixus 
  42.             that I... let the community down...

  44.                     ALIXUS
  45.             The matter is closed.  Go inside.  
  46.             Get some rest now.

  48.                     STEPHAN
  49.             Thank you, Alixus.

  51.     Stephan EXITS with help from Joseph.  Alixus sees that Sisko 
  52.     and O'Brien are looking daggers at her.  She is unshaken in 
  53.     her faith that what they're doing is right.
