---3.0 Troubleshooting
If you are running Exploring Computers: A Record of Discovery under
Windows95 and the Exploring Computers icon does not appear in the
start menu:
1. Right-click the taskbar.
2. Click Properties.
3. Turn on the check box labeled "show small icons in start menu."
4. Click Apply.
5. Click OK.
---3.2 "Script Error, Frame Not Defined" error message.
This error message will display under the following circumstances:
1) If you attempt to click on any button, or advance the program,
when the hourglass is displayed on the monitor.
2) If you click on several buttons in rapid succession not allowing
the computer the time necessary to access the next sequence on the CD-ROM.
If this error occurs, simply click the "next" button, or press the arrow
cursor key (->) to continue. To prevent this error message from occurring,
do not attempt to click on any buttons or advance the program with the cursor
arrow keys while the hourglass is displayed on the monitor. Also, do not click
on several buttons in rapid succession without allowing the computer the
access time required to display information contained on the CD-ROM.
---3.3 Wave Sound in Windows 95.
If audio does not play, or abruptly cuts out after the opening animation,
the problem may be the Wave Sound Volume setting. To correct:
1) Open Windows 95 Volume Control
2) Set the Sound Wave Volume above "2", the second tick mark from the
bottom. This will allow "Exploring Computers" to play audio at the normal volume.
---4.0 Printing Questions
Each Exploring Computers lab is accompanied by a set of questions that can
be used for homework or tests. These questions are contained in text files
in the root directory of the Exploring Computers CD-ROM and are named
according to the lab number (e.g., Lab1.txt accompanies the "Using the
Mouse" lab). To print these questions, open the text files in Notepad or a
word processor.
