  7. Instructions for setting up abp version 4.27
  8. ============================================

  10. The file ABP427.ZIP should contain the following files:
  11.  
  12. 1. abp.sis  (installation file)
  13. 2. changes.txt (recent changes to abp)
  14. 3. hints.txt (useful hints for version 3.00 onwards)
  15. 4. sample.abp (an example abp data file using investments)
  16. 5. sample.txt (instructions for sample.abp)
  17. 6. readme.txt (this file)
  18. 7. abpfaq (a Psion Word file with Frequently Asked Questions)
  19. 8. abp3to4.opo (program to convert data file to version 4.xx format, see below)
  20.  
  21. When you have unzipped to your PC, then double-clicking on abp.sis will start the
  22. standard EPOC Install process.
  23.  
  24. On your Psion, you should create a directory c:\abp   which is the default 
  25. location for abp data files.  Don't copy any of the above files into this
  26. directory - abp will automatically place your data file there once
  27. you run the program.
  28.  
  29. Once you have completed the abp installation procedure, you
  30. will see a new icon (called ABP4) in the Extras section.
  31.  
  32. When you installed abp, you were given the choice of installing to c: or d:.
  33. However I recommend that you keep your DATA FILES on the c: drive whenever
  34. possible.  This is because the abp writes to disk frequently - good 
  35. for the security of your data, but slow on a flash disk.  Holding your
  36. data files on the c: drive will result in better response time.
  37.  
  38. Important: if you want to run abp from the d: drive then you MUST still
  39. create the directory c:\system\apps\abp for the abp.ini file.  
  40.  
  41. For features of abp and instructions, please take a few minutes to
  42. read the help file (press CTRL+SHIFT+H from within abp)

  45. Note for upgraders from abp version 3.xx to version 4.xx
  46. ========================================================

  48. abp version 4.00 contains many new features.  Unfortunately, I have
  49. had to modify the abp data file format and included in the 
  50. zip file is a program abp3to4.opo which will update your existing
  51. data file to the new format.  As a safeguard, the program will ask
  52. you for a new filename, so that your original data is left intact.
  53.  
  54. To use this program, copy it into any convenient directory on your 
  55. Psion (it does not have to be in the same directory as specified
  56. for the main abp program above).  Then run the program and follow 
  57. the onscreen instructions - it's easy!
  58.  
  59. Once the conversion is done, you should select the new version of
  60. abp from the Extras bar, or alternatively select the name of your
  61. updated data file from the System screen.
