The various types of fireflies have special cells that illuminate certain parts on their bodies. These parts are located behind their eyes and on the rear of their bodies. Fireflies can also be found in tropical countries and in Europe, but it is said that they do not shine as brightly as those in the Amazon. According to legend, fireflies were small insects that helped a fallen star return to the heavens. When the star returned, the mother star thanked them by lighting up parts of their bodies to help them find their way home.
