  29. It's really amazing  how  time  can  cure  the  wounds...  Hey!  what now? Grey
  30. complaining about his health? Naaah... no  worries.  So  far I didn't manage to
  31. breed any ulcers anywhere  ;)  Saying  "ulcer"  I  meant  about one thing which
  32. heavily annoyed me after buying the dreamed off ST. It was nothing else than...
  33. YM2149 :) Arf... are ya shouting already? ;) I feel the breath of madness at my
  34. shoulders!
  35. Wait... I hear the knocking... I decide to open the door... I see angry eyes of
  36. Tao, DMA-SC, Mc Laser, Rhino, MSG,  505  and  Luebke holding something in their
  37. hand... HEEEEEEEEEEEY, GUYS! PUT  THIS  WEAPON  DOWN!  PUT  IT DOWN! Holy shit,
  38. that's a misunderstanding! Let me start the story from beginning!

  40. All sat down still directing their weapons  at my head... Erm, coffee? Glass of
  41. wine? 'We'll drink your blood for a  moment!'  - someone replied... Eh, so what
  42. about some music? I run Popstars in  the  2nd  room... 'ARE YOU MAKING FOOLS OF
  43. US?!'

  45. Sounds of pulled triggers filled  the  flat...  'Tell  us what you have against
  46. YM2149  or  bark everything better!' Do you finally let me to start this story?
  47. 'Go on you bastard...'

  50. A long long time ago the smallish  Grey  who  was at the stage of examining his
  51. class girlfriends by a touch "here  and  there", decided to focus his attention
  52. on computer business. Being faithful to  the  roots,  he started to think about
  53. buying an ST as a  follower  of  8-bit  Atari  -  already  standing on the desk
  54. plugged to into the  Russian  "small  but  weighty  as  elephants' butt" TV set
  55. (Russian engineers rule!).
  56.  
  57. ST  was  a  natural  choice,  however   I   didn't  know  too  much  about  its
  58. possibilities.  Atari's name  was  enough  magic  for  me  and  I believed that
  59. everything leaving this factory had  to  satisfy  me.  I  didn't need anyone to
  60. force me to do it but a  die-hard  Speccy  fan  asked  me to rush ahead with it
  61. before I changed my mind.  Someday it  FINALLY  happend - the twice bigger STFM
  62. filled the rest of the desk space.  I  bought it from a hacker with over 700pcs
  63. of 3.5 disks (!). Because  I didn't  see  too  much  on  it, I put one of these
  64. disks to the STFM's 3.5 inch vagina lips.  Demo starts... wot da fuck?! Is it a
  65. sound or farting cat in  the  desert?  I  checked  the cables... All's fine, it
  66. wasn't a cat... STFM made a speech concerning his vocal cords... real sounds of
  67. wickedness. I was broken especially by the bass... pure fart'n'roll.
  68.  
  69. BTW - these "sounds" were reminding me  of something... hmmm... I know, I KNOW!
  70. Doesn't the Speccy with AY card  make  similar  noises?  Yeah... Now I know why
  71. this guy told me to rush ahead with buying the ST... he was FASCINATED with YA-
  72. AY... however I couldn't share this  fascination.  Showing demos or games to my
  73. friends I didn't pump up the volume... I wanted to avoid weird grimaces forming
  74. on their faces or listening to malicious comments...
  75.  
  76. But someday I found some pearls which  changed  my mind about the STFM's vocal.
  77. I ran some demos with Scavenger  tunes...  I  was  fallin'  in love with all of
  78. them!  What cute melodies... YM2149, I  am  so  SORRY for being ashamed to have
  79. you in the past! I was so young and so weak-minded!
  80.  
  81. Since a few years I am a real  enthusiast of that soundchip. And I really don't
  82. care if someone pokes fun at me when I am listening to some tunes pretty loud!

  87. something as a painful ulcer and becoming a friend of it...? Really amazing!
