  7. OMIM Text Files
  8. ---------------

  10. The directory \source\ on the CD-ROM contains the original
  11. omim.txt and genemap.txt text files as downloaded from the 
  12. NCBI Web server. The gene map is also provided as a 
  13. spreadsheet compatible with Microsoft Excel version 5.0 
  14. or later.

  17. MIM System Requirements
  18. -----------------------

  20. Microsoft MS-DOS version 3.1 or later, with CD-ROM extensions
  21. Microsoft Windows version 3.1 or later, or Windows-95
  22. 80386, 80486, or Pentium-based IBM-compatible PC
  23. 8 MB of RAM 
  24. VGA or Super-VGA video display (256 colors required for OMIM images)
  25. Disk space requirements: configuration dependent
  26.   Hard disk + CD-ROM: 2 MB hard disk space
  27.   Hard disk only: 200 MB hard disk space
  28. CD-ROM drive (double-speed or better recommended)

  31. Automatic Installation, Windows 3.1

  34. 1. Microsoft Windows version 3.1 must be running.
  35. 2. Insert the MIM CD-ROM disk into the CD-ROM player.
  36. 3. Click on the Program Manager window to make it active.
  37. 4. Select File-Run on the menu bar, type in "X:\SETUP.EXE"
  38.    (where "X" is the letter of your CD-ROM drive), then 
  39.    click the "OK" button.
  40. 5. Answer the questions and follow the instructions
  41.    displayed by the SETUP program.
  42. 6. When SETUP is complete, you will have a new "program
  43.    group" in the Program Manager that contains icons for
  44.    MIM and for the on-line manual.
  45. 7. See the on-line manual for more information about MIM,
  46.    a tutorial, and detailed explanations of the individual
  47.    viewer commands.

  53. 1. Microsoft Windows-95 must be running.

  56. 4. Type in "X:\SETUP.EXE" (where "X" is the letter of

  60. 6. When SETUP is complete, you will have a new "program
