==================================================================== Release Notes for MIM for Microsoft Windows (tm) April 1997 CD-ROM ==================================================================== OMIM Text Files --------------- The directory \source\ on the CD-ROM contains the original omim.txt and genemap.txt text files as downloaded from the NCBI Web server. The gene map is also provided as a spreadsheet compatible with Microsoft Excel version 5.0 or later. MIM System Requirements ----------------------- Microsoft MS-DOS version 3.1 or later, with CD-ROM extensions Microsoft Windows version 3.1 or later, or Windows-95 80386, 80486, or Pentium-based IBM-compatible PC 8 MB of RAM VGA or Super-VGA video display (256 colors required for OMIM images) Disk space requirements: configuration dependent Hard disk + CD-ROM: 2 MB hard disk space Hard disk only: 200 MB hard disk space CD-ROM drive (double-speed or better recommended) Automatic Installation, Windows 3.1 ----------------------------------- 1. Microsoft Windows version 3.1 must be running. 2. Insert the MIM CD-ROM disk into the CD-ROM player. 3. Click on the Program Manager window to make it active. 4. Select File-Run on the menu bar, type in "X:\SETUP.EXE" (where "X" is the letter of your CD-ROM drive), then click the "OK" button. 5. Answer the questions and follow the instructions displayed by the SETUP program. 6. When SETUP is complete, you will have a new "program group" in the Program Manager that contains icons for MIM and for the on-line manual. 7. See the on-line manual for more information about MIM, a tutorial, and detailed explanations of the individual viewer commands.
