310Schiotz tonometer measures eye pressure while you lie down. This instrument is satisfactory for glaucoma screening. For a more precise measurement, or to confirm an abnormal eye pressure, your physician may use an applanation tonometer. This test, for which you sit upright, is performed by an eye specialist.
