  1. MOVING AROUND GENIE
  2.  
  3. If you want, you can use GEnie's menus to move from product to
  4. product.  However, there are a couple of quicker (as in saving you
  5. time and money quicker) and easier ways to get around.
  6.

  8. USING PAGE NUMBERS
  9.  
  10. The first is with the MOVE command.  Every major menu in the GEnie
  11. system has a page number.  To move from one page to another, use the
  12. MOVE command with the appropriate page number.  You can use the MOVE
  13. command whenever you are at the prompt, "Enter #, <P>revious, or
  14. <H>elp?"  For example, to move to page 200 (which is the GE Mail
  15. menu), you would type:

  17.      M 200

  19. You can even go one step more, and further detail the location you
  20. want to move to within a menu.  To do this, you add the menu item
  21. number after the page number (separated by a colon or semicolon).  For
  22. example, if you wanted to move to page 200, item 9 ("GE Mail Command
  23. Mode"), you would type:

  25.      M 200;9
  26.  
  27. The move command can be modified by adding "S" at the end of the item
  28. number.   This tells the system to scroll through the text without
  29. prompting (otherwise, the display would pause each time the screen was
  30. full and you would have to tell it to proceed).

  32. This is useful if you are capturing the information and are not
  33. interested in reading while its scrolling across the screen.

  36. USING KEYWORDS

  38. Another way to move about is by using Keywords.  Keywords are words
  39. which can be used to move from menu to menu.  Every major menu has a
  40. keyword centered at the top of the page.  If you look at GEnie's main,
  41. Top Menu, you will see the keyword for that page is "TOP".  For
  42. example, the keyword for moving to the menu for GE Mail is "MAIL".

  44. You can use a keyword whenever you are at the prompt:

  48. For example, to move to the CHAT menu, you would type:
