- Hitchhiker's Guide to Cosmic Conquest
- 7-5-89
-
- When you first play Cosmic Conquest, you may be overwhelmed by the variety of
- commands available to you, but don't panic. In your initial session, you won't
- have to use very many of them; in the days to come, you'll have plenty of time
- to become familiar with all of them.
-
- We strongly recommend that you use the H)elp function again to capture the full
- documents so you can read them before launching against another planet.
-
- From the main menu, select Y, then S and hit Return to see your stockpile on
- all planets and moons. It'll be a short list, because you've only got one
- planet.
-
- Next, select M and enter your planet name, such as A1. It will tell you the
- names of the moons you have around your planet -- a number from 0 to 5. If you
- have moons, you can try to launch against them.
-
- Select L then F and enter your planet name, the name of the moon you want to
- attack (such as A1.1) and the number of fighters to send. Try 20. You will get
- a report back telling how well your attack went. When you take a moon, check
- its maximum production by selecting Y and P from the main menu. Remember the
- first column is the maximum production and the second is the current
- production.
-
- You can launch some or all of your remaining fighters back down to your planet,
- or jump to another moon.
-
- Now select V and enter your planet name to see the area around it. You should
- be able to see the number of planets in your system and can start contemplating
- your conquest of them. You may also see neighboring solar systems and expand
- your goals.
-
- Pick a target, then select L and S to send a scout to it. At the prompt for
- programming the scout, hit "Y" or return. It will tell you how many days to
- expect a report in. You have a nice stockpile of scouts, so why not send a few
- out to your neighbors? That way, you can pick the weakest and attack it after
- your reports are back.
-
- You should also check out E, which is the Etherspace mail base. You should be
- able to find your way around in this.
-
- Before you leave, select P then E to see how much stuff everyone has. Three
- players are controlled by the computer and should have hefty equivalent
- stockpiles.
-
- Use Q to quit the game.
