│▒▒▒ NOTICE ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒│
└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
This is the REGISTERED copy of RRCONFIG, and as such should not be
distributed, or given to anyone else. Only "YOU" are licensed to use this
copy of the program.
All support, licensing, future version terms and information are identical
to those listed in RR.DOC, and are applied to all programs mentioned in
this document.
RRCONFIG.EXE is the standalone program for configuring the editor used,
colors, printer codes etc. I don't figure everyone will like the default
colors.

│▒▒▒ Real vs Demo ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒│
└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
There are two versions of RRCONFIG, a Registered version and a Demo version.
The Demo version is identical to the Registered, except that it will NOT
save a configuration file, though it goes through all the motions of doing
so. This will give you an oppurtunity to see how the program works.
The Demo version, RRCONFIG.EXE is included in the Evaluation package. The
registered version RRCONFIG.EXE is included with your Registered package.

│▒▒▒ The READCFG Program ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒│
└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
REGISTERED ONLY!
Included with RRCONFIG, is a companion program, READCFG.EXE which will
allow you to quickly view the settings of any RRSET.CFG.
Simply log onto the directory of your choice and type READCFG. IF no file
is found, a message will be displayed.
Otherwise, your configuration will be displayed in a format similar to
RRCONFIG's Edit screen.
You can re-direct the listing to your printer by using a switch, this is
-p or -P. ie READCFG = screen display READCFG -p = write to printer.

│▒▒▒ Help Screens ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒│
└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
Help is available via the F1 key, there are two screens. Pressing any key
other than ESC will toggle between them. Pressing ESC will exit the Help
Screens.
Another short screen is available from the Dos Prompt. Type RRCONFIG ? to
display a screen to refresh you on how to start RRCONFIG for different
purposes.

│▒▒▒ The Display ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒│
└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
When RRCONFIG starts up it searches for an existing RRSET.CFG file. If
found it will display all values as found in that file. If not found, the
values will all be set to the 'default' ones, which are the same as that
used in the Reader.
The configuration program searches for an existing config file, RRSET.CFG.
It first checks the current directory and if one is not found, it will
search all directories listed in the Dos PATH statement. It will use the
first one found, if one exists.
The complete PATH\FILENAME of the config file being used, will be displayed
at the top of the editing window. This also applies if you are creating a
new file.
┌─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐
│▒▒▒ Creating a New Configuration File ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒│
└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
If you have one or more copies of RRSET.CFG and you wish to create a New
one, you must start RRCONFIG with the /N switch, the 'N' may be upper or
lower case. Example: RRCONFIG /N.
If the /N switch is not used, RRCONFIG will "always" load an existing file
if found. The switch tells it to ignore any cfg file found and start from
scratch.
If an existing RRSET.CFG exists in the current directory, and you use the
/N switch, that copy will be over written by the new one when you save it.
See the section "Saving Configuration" later on for more on this.

│▒▒▒ The Editing Screen ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒│
└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
When RRCONFIG fires up, it will display the editing window, and list all
values as found, or the defaults....you are in view mode.
Use your Up and Down keys to move through the fields. As you enter a field,
a short Help line will be displayed in the lower section of the display.
The lower section of the screen contains the Help line, and all the Command
Keys available.
Two Help/Information screens are available when the F1 key is pressed.
┌─────────────┐
│Command Keys:│
└─────────────┘
F1 : Calls the Help/Information screens.
F2 : Displays a color chart with the color values to enter.
F5 : Shows a sample of the readers display, with current colors.

May be displayed at any time while entering the values.
F9/ENTER : Allows you to Edit the field you are in when pressed.
END : Exits RRCONFIG. If changes have been made, you will be asked
if you wish to save them. Pressing 'Y' or Enter will save the
new configuration. Press 'N' to not save.

┌─────────────┐
│Description: │
└─────────────┘
Type in a short description of this file, you may have several
configuration files for different situations, this will help you remember
just what you set it up for.
┌────────────────┐
│Display Colors: │
└────────────────┘
If you need to view the color chart with F2, you must do it before you
enter Edit mode, the chart is NOT available while you are editing the
field. This may be changed in a later version.
You will only be allowed to enter color values from 1 to 127, and only
numeric characters are allowed.
A note on the Blinking status color. The color you choose will be
automatically adjusted to create the blinking forground. If you want bright
yellow on red, then enter 78. RRCONFIG will set the yellow to blinking
automatically. The default is to use the same color as the Normal
Header/Status number, and cause it to blink.
Colors for the Pick Lists and Dialog boxes are inherited from your color
settings for all other screen colors.
Pick List, Frame and Text color: Same as that of Normal Header and Status.
The Highlight Bar: Same as your color for "Found" text.
Dialog Boxes, Frame color: Same as the Highlight Color in Status and
Header.
Text: Same as the Header/Status Normal color.
Buttons: Unselected - same as Help Screen
Selected - same as Found color.
Have it "Your" Way....
Go Configure Configuring The RaLin Reader - Manual Page 4
Samples of the Dialog Boxes and the Piclist colors are shown in the lower
screen when Display is called via F5.
┌──────────────────────┐
│Startup Border Color: │
└──────────────────────┘
Some people like to have a contrasting border color around the screen.
This is only available on CGA and VGA monitors. EGA does not support border
colors.
Acceptable values are from 0 to 15, these are viewable on the first row of
the color chart, any other number will not be accepted.
When you enter a border color, the screen border will instantly change to
that color, so you can cycle through and view, simply by repeatedly
changing the color number.

│▒▒▒ Editor Program ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒│
└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
Enter the Editor you would like to use. The entered program MUST exist in a
"PATH" directory in order for the reader to find it.
Editor Parameters:
If your editor accepts any switches for special actions, enter them here.
If NOT, please enter (1)ONE space. This makes sure that no garbage is
included in the command line when the Editor is called.
These "switches" are sent "following" the file name when the editor is
invoked.
The Editor defaults to RE.EXE, The RaLin Editor (under development).
To use "your" editor with the Shareware copy of the reader, you will have
to rename it to RE.EXE.

│▒▒▒ Printer Commands ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒│
└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
These fields allow you to specify control commands to be sent to your
printer for custom setup before printing any file you are viewing. In the
reader, the code may be sent by pressing the Alt key plus the number 1
through 6. Use the number keys above the character keys.
Please remember, any code you send to the printer will remain in effect,
even after exiting the reader, unless you clear it.
It is best to use two Printer commands for each special setting, one to
activate it and one to turn it off. Using this process, you can have 3
different setups for your printer.
You do not need to use the ALT-# keys for setting or clearing COMPRESSED
print mode. That is always available in the reader. But, if for some reason
the readers command for this doesn't work (1 in a thousand) then you can
define the codes here.
Codes must be entered in NUMERIC format, no characters. They should be
seperated by one space, NO space at beginning, and NO space at end.
Have it "Your" Way....
Go Configure Configuring The RaLin Reader - Manual Page 5
An example for Setting Graphics mode on a Panasonic 1124i would be:
27 116 1, remember NO begining or trailing spaces.
Refer to your Printer Manual for the proper code sequences, use the
"Decimal" values.

│▒▒▒ Saving The Configuration ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒│
└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
When you are done changing the configuration settings, or just want to
exit, press the END key. If any changes have been made you will be asked
if you want to save these changes. Pressing 'Y' =or= ENTER will save the
changes to the configuration file RRSET.CFG
The configuration file is written to the same directory it was found in,
assuming you are modifying an existing file. Any old copy is overwritten.
If this is a NEW configuration file, with no other existing, it will be
written in the current directory.
Also, if the /N switch was used, the "New" file will be written to the
current directory, overwriting any existing file.
If you wish to have only one configuration file, or one that you will use
as a "standard", it should be created in a directory that is included in
your PATH statement.
Again, multiple files may be used. The reader and the config program always
search the current directory, on startup, for a config file, before
searching the path.

│▒▒▒ Closing Remarks ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒│
└─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
RRCONFIG is a simple program, and really self-explanatory. You should have
no problem giving The RaLin Reader your own "special touch".
As features are added to the reader, RRCONFIG will be expanded to
accomodate the configuration of the new features.
All credits and thanks follow those listed in RR.DOC.
