  18. 1.   To provide a historic account of the spread of the gospel throughout 
  19.      the then-known world.

  21. 2.   To demonstrate to all future believers:
  22.      (1)   The manner in which-the Lord of the harvest wants to carry on 
  23.      from heaven the work which he had begun on earth.
  24.      (2)  The power by means of which this work is to be accomplished; 
  25.      namely, that of the Holy Spirit.

  27. 3.   To account for God's severity with the Jews who were the bitter and
  28.      implacable enemies of the gospel.

  30. 4.  To vindicate God for his setting aside of the Jewish nation in favour 
  31.     of the acceptance of the Gentiles.
