  6. WHAT IS MOSES' TABERNACLE?
  7.  
  8. The term "Tabernacle" means "tent" (Latin).  Num.9:15 or
  9. "dwelling place" Hebrew).  From the beginning we read how God
  10. walked with man, revealing His will, but without a place in
  11. which to dwell until He declared, "let them make me a sanctuary,
  12. that I may dwell among them".  Ex.25:8; 29:45, 46. God desired to
  13. reveal His nature and character more fully to His people - to
  14. instruct man how He might draw nigh unto Himself and serve and
  15. worship Him.   God's purpose and desire has always been to
  16. fellowship and dwell with His people. Rev.21:3; Ezek.37:26-28; 2
  17. Cor.6:16-18; John 14:23.

  19. WHY WE STUDY THE TABERNACLE.

  21. 1.   Its Prominence in Scripture.
  22.      There are only 2 chapters for creation (man's dwelling
  23.      place), while 50 chapters are devoted to the Tabernacle.
  24.      (God's dwelling place). Ex.25-40; Lev.1- 27; Ex.13; Num:13;

  26. 2.   Speaks of Jesus.
  27.      Luke 24:27 - "Beginning at Moses (Tabernacle, Law etc), and
  28.      all the prophets: He expounded unto them in all the
  29.      scriptures the things concerning Himself". John 1:14,4 5;
  30.      14:6; Isa. 7:14.

  32. 3    Speaks of the Church.
  33.      Acts 7:38      "Church in the wilderness".
  34.      Acts 7:44      "Tabernacle of witness".
  35.      Ex 27:21       "The Tabernacle of the Congregation" (133
  36.      times). (Hebrew "moed" means "a meeting place").1 Cor.3:16;
  37.      Eph.2:20-22.

  47. 5.   For our Admonition.
  48.      1 Cor. 10:11 - "Now all these things happened unto them
  49.      for examples: they are written for our admonition, upon
  50.      whom the ends of the world are come". Heb.10:1; 8:5; 1
  51.      Pet.1:9-12; Rom.15:4; Heb.9:9 (Amp.) Rom.1:20.

  53. 6.   Foundation for the Book of Revelation.
  54.      The Book of Revelation is built upon the imagery of the
  55.      Tabernacle and its structure. Both Moses and John beheld
  56.      the same heavenly pattern (Heb 8:5). e.g. Brazen Altar -
  57.      Rev.6:9. The Laver - Rev.4:6. The Candlestick  - Rev.l: 12.
  58.      Altar of Incense - Rev.8:3. Manna - Rev.2:17.  The Ark  -
  59.      Rev.15:5.

  61. WHO RECEIVED THE PATTERN OF THE TABERNACLE?

  63. The Bible tells us that Moses saw the Tabernacle on the Mountain.
  64.  
  65. Ex.25:40;26:30; Num.8:4; Acts 7:44.  Moses was a man who had a
  66. vision, and yet knew the preparation and dealings of God in his
  67. life.  He knew the ways of God while Israel only saw His acts
  68. (Psa. 103:7).  Moses desired to know God's way and to see His
  69. glory.  Ex. 33: 13-23.

  71. WHO BUILT THE TABERNACLE?

  73. Ex.31: 1-11 - "See I have called by name Bezaleel .... and I have
  74. given with him Aholiab.......

  76. 1. (a)    Bezaleel - means "in the shadow of God" or "God is
  77.           Protection".  Psa.91: 1, tells us that to be under the
  78.           shadow of the almighty is to be in the secret place -
  79.           fellowship and intimate communion.  He knew what it was
  80.           to be under covering - submission to authority, which
  81.           results in a divine and supernatural protection.
  82.           Isa.49:1-2. "in the shadow of His Hand hath He hid me"
  83.           the hand is always the place of God's dealings.
  84.           Job.19:21; Psa.95:4; 39:10.

  86.    (b)    The Son of Uri - means "Enlightened" and "Splendour"
  87.           - only through the illumination of the Holy Spirit are
  88.           we going to see the splendour of the finished product
  89.           - vision.  Eph. 1: 17-19.

  91.    (e)    Of the Tribe of Judah - praise.  Today God's temple is
  92.           being built in an atmosphere of praise.

  94. 2.   Aholiab - means "Tabernacle of my Father" - Psa.84:1-2
  95.      - "how amiable (sweet attractive) are thy Tabernacles" - A
  96.      love for the presence of God. Of the Tribe of Dan - means
  97.      "judgments". Heb.5:13-14 - A mark of maturity. 1 Cor.2:15 -
  98.      "He that is spiritual judgeth all things".  John 16:8.

  100. HOW WAS THE TABERNACLE BUILT?

  102. 1.   Ex.31:3 - "By the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in
  103.      understanding and in knowledge".
  104.      (a)  The Spirit of God, John 14:26; 2 Cor.3:6; Heb.9:14;
  105.           Eph.2:22; 1 Pet.l:22.
  106.      (b)  Wisdom, understanding and knowledge.  Prov.9:l; 24:3-5;
  107.           18:4; 23:23; Isa.11:2; 33:6; Matt.15:1-10; Dan.2:20-22.

  109. 2.   By surrender and sacrifice of material possessions.
  110.      Ex.26:2"speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring
  111.      Me an offering..... ".  The Tabernacle was made of available
  112.      material.  The source of that material was the people.  When
  113.      Israel left Egypt, they carried with them the result of 400
  114.      years of "unsalaried" service.  Ex. 12:35-36.  But now God
  115.      called for sacrifice that they might experience His Presence
  116.      in their midst.  The same thing happened after they reached
  117.      the land of Canaan.  Josh.6:24; 8:27.  They were forbidden
  118.      to touch any of the spoil from the first battle (Achan).
  119.      With the second battle, they could have it all.

  121. HOW DID THEY GIVE.

  123. With a willing heart. Ex.35:5,10,21,22; 2 Cor.9:6-7; Prov.11:25;
  124. Isa.58:10.
