  2. THE KINGDOM AND IT'S LAWS                         Lecture 4.

  4. The Spiritual world is divided into two kingdoms:
  5.      1. The Kingdom of Darkness.
  6.      2. The Kingdom of (Light) Heaven.
  7.  
  8. We were in the Kingdom of Darkness but are now in the Kingdom of
  9. His dear Son. Col.1:13.
  10.  
  11. If we are in the Kingdom of God it is only right that we keep the
  12. Laws of the Kingdom.
  13.  
  14. God is not trying to get us into the Kingdom of Heaven ,He is
  15. trying to get the kingdom of heaven into us.
  16.  
  17. If we do not obey these laws we suffer spiritually. This is the
  18. reason why so many get so little joy,blessing and power because
  19. they are disobedient children. Sometimes disobedience is quite
  20. unconscious. This is the reason we study these laws. Find out how
  21. we stand in relation to them and thus enter into the fullness of
  22. the blessing God has in store for us.

  24. THE PATHWAY OF OBEDIENCE IS ALWAYS A PATHWAY OF BLESSING. It was
  25. so in the Old Covenant  Isa.1:19 and is under the New.
  26. John.14:21, John 15:10, John 15;14, Acts 5;32, 1 John 3:22.

  28. If we obey the Laws of the Kingdom we shall have the Power of the
  29. Kingdom. Rom. 5:17. REIGN IN LIFE BY ONE, CHRIST JESUS.
  30. "FOR THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS NOT IN MEAT AND DRINK: BUT
  31. RIGHTEOUSNESS, PEACE AND JOY IN  THE HOLY GHOST". Rom.14:17

  34. THE SERMON ON THE MOUNT

  36. The Sermon on the mount has not been given as an ideal but as a
  37. practicality in our Christian living.
  38.  
  39. The sermon on the mount takes place after the calling of the
  40. twelve disciples ( Luke 6;13) and has been called THEIR
  41. ORDINATION ADDRESS.

  44. Introduction
  45. Matt.4:23-25
  46.      1. Preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom
  47.      2. There were all kinds of needs
  48.         "multitudes" sick, tormented, all mixed up.
  49.      3. Note what Jesus did! " He called his disciples" ch.5:1
  50.         What He did was to straighten the Disciples out so that
  51.         he Disciples in turn could straighten the multitude out.
  52.      4. The Lord has to establish something in you before you can
  53.         establish it in others.
  54.           If you have salvation share salvation
  55.           If you have healing share healing
  56.           If your marriage works share the secrets
  57.      Its possible for a person to be saved 25 years and still be
  58.      mixed up.
  59.      5. Matthew chapters 5,6,and 7 are our measuring rod. Rules
  60.         to live by.
  61.      6. Measure yourself don't measure others. Are you the full
  62.         six feet or are you only six inches.

  65. JESUS TEACHES ON CHARACTER  = that is our vertical
  66. relationship.

  68.    "And he opened his mouth, and taught them saying:"
  69.    3.  Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the
  70.        kingdom of heaven.
  71.    4.  Blessed are they that morn: for they shall be
  72.        comforted.
  73.    6.  Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after
  74.        righteousness: for they shall be filled.
  75.    8.  Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

  78. Preamble.
  79.    One of the first questions raised may have been, "What do
  80.    You mean by blessed?"  Well, what did he mean?  Literally
  81.    translated, He was saying, "To be envied are..."

  83. A. The Destitute Spirit: Totally dependant on God.
  84.    Isa.66:2

  86.    1. "Poor in spirit"?   Luke 1:53 This has to do with self-
  87.    evaluation.  If a person is so self-confident and self-
  88.    assured that he doesn't believe he has any needs, how are
  89.    you going to help him?
  90.    2. I want to be poor cause I know there's more , GOD IS
  91.    SAYING " BLESSED ARE THEY WHO HAVE A NEED".
  92.    3. We need needs to drive us to God.

  94. B. The Broken (Penitent) Spirit: Ability to repent. Joel 2:12
  95.  
  96.     1. Mourn?  Literally "Blessed is he in whom God has
  97.     worked the ability to say sorry'
  98.     2. This leaves a questionable taste in the mouth.
  99.    A mourner-to be envied?  Yes, when one has the quality of
  100.    life that can repent in God's presence, that one receives
  101.    comfort from God that truly blesses.  Ps.32:1
  102.     3. Eg. Dennis the Mennis "God I goofed again".

  104. C. Starving Spirit: Like perishing for water - tongue out
  105.  
  106.     1. Hunger and thirst?  This is a sign of health!  Usually
  107.    when one is physically ill, appetite is lacking.  Upon
  108.    return to normal, the request may come, "Please fix me two
  109.    eggs." Welcome request!
  110.         One who hungers after more of the Word of God- who
  111.    thirsts for His Spirit-he is to be envied for he shall be
  112.    filled.  God will see to it that his longings are
  113.    satisfied.
  114.     2. the Church is recovering from a long illness. They are
  115. crying for teaching. God has promised teaching in these last
  116. days. Joel.2:23 " God hath given you (a teacher of
  117. righteousness) the former rain (according to righteousness)
  118. moderately".

  121. D. The Clean Spirit:  Pure Spirit:  Prov.22:11
  122.  
  123.     1. Pure in heart?  This does not have to do with a heart
  124.    without sin-though there will be a turning from all known
  125.    sin. The deeper meaning is "one without sin-though there
  126.    will be a turning from all known sin.  The deeper meaning
  127.    is "one without guile."  Jesus described one of His
  128.    disciples, Nathanael, as being without guile.  (See John
  129.    1:47.)
  130.     2. Guile is deceit-pretence. It is easy to "play games"
  131.    in an attempt to enter the kingdom.  But God distinguishes
  132.    the real from the sham.  They That Know Their God Shall Do
  133.    Exploits."
  134.     3. Chap praying for the Baptism in the Holy Spirit had a
  135.     Deacon and a Hippie praying for him.
  136.        Deacon praying = Thou wouldst
  137.                         Thou shouldest
  138.                         Thou canest
  139.        Hippy praying  =  God zap him. That's when ha got
  140.     baptised in the Holy Ghost.
  141.     4. Nathanael a man without guile John 1:47 God will
  142.     reveal Himself to a man like this because he has a pure
  143.     heart.
