  6. THE ALTAR OF INCENSE.

  8. 1.   IT'S POSITION.
  9.  
  10.      The Altar of Incense within the Holy PIace was the closest
  11.      piece of furniture to the Glory of God.
  12.      In the plan of Restoration, since the Dark Ages, the Altar
  13.      is prophetic of the present move of God - today the Church
  14.      is standing at this truth before entering the Veil into the
  15.      Holiest of All.  The truth of the Altar (praise and worship)
  16.      is the forerunner to the next move of the Holy Spirit.

  18.      Speaks of Praise, Prayer and Worship.
  19.  
  20.      Psa.141:2 - "Let my prayer be set forth before thee as
  21.      incense........". Rev.5:8, 8:3-4.

  23.      Typical of Christ's Ministry of Intercession - Heb.7:25,
  24.      9:24, Rom.8:26, Psa.22:22.

  26.      Resurrection Life - through praise, the appointment with
  27.      death shall be broken in this last day.  Psa.102:18-20,
  28.      Psa.149:6, Psa.79:11-12, Heb.6:1-2.

  30.      Day of Atonement - Lev.16:2, 12-13.

  32.      -    on this day of cleansing, incense was taken 'within the
  33.           Veil'.
  34.      -    prophetic of the ministry of prayer and praise as the
  35.           Church enters the Holy of Holies.  A spirit of prayer
  36.           is being poured out upon the Church as we draw near to
  37.           perfection and maturity. 2 Chron.7:14, Joel 2:12-19.

  39. 2.   THE DESIGN.  Ex.30:1-10.
  40.      V-1. "an Altar".
  41.      -    an Altar is always the place of sacrifice.
  42.      -    the Sacrifice of Praise, Heb.13:15; 1 Pet.2: 5;
  43.           Col.4:2; Eph.6:18, Psa.54:6.
  44.      -    the Sacrifice of Thanksgiving.  Psa.107:22; Eph.5:20;
  45.           Psa.116:17.
  46.      -    the Sacrifice of Joy.  Psa.27:6; Jas.1:2-3; Luke
  47.           6:22-23.

  49.      "Shittim Wood".

  51.      -    speaks of our humanity.
  52.      It is in our humanity that we are able to praise Him
  53.      -    there is a man (Jesus) in heaven, interceding for us.
  54.      -    we don't have to be perfect before we offer praise, our
  55.           human weaknesses do not shut us off from His Presence.
  56.           Lev.7:13 - Leaven (human weakness) allowed in the
  57.           Sacrifice of Thanksgiving.  V.2. "4 Square".
  58.      Rev.21:16 - the eternal city 4 square.
  59.                - speaks of eternity.

  61.      One other piece of furniture 4 square - the Brazen Altar -
  62.      Calvary.
  63.      -    Therefore throughout Eternity our theme song will be
  64.           "Worthy is the Lamb".  Our ministry at the Altar of
  65.           Incense is inseparably connected with the Brazen Altar.
  66.      -    Our praise and worship should always be centred around
  67.           the Sacrifice of Calvary.
  68.  
  69.      The Fire - the Fire to burn the Incense came from the Brazen
  70.      Altar our prayer and praise is set aflame with the Fire and
  71.      Zeal that comes from our first love - Calvary.
  72.      -    the effectiveness of our prayer is dependent upon a
  73.           continual sacrifice out on the Brazen Altar.

  75.      "4 horns".
  76.      Speaks of power.  Hab.3:4.
  77.      Praise has power and is a weapon against the enemy.
  78.      Isa.60:11 - "Gates of Praise"
  79.                -  Gates speak of authority.
  80.  
  81.      Brazen Altar - also has 4 horns pointing to the 4 corners of
  82.      the earth - we know that the "Gospel is the power of God
  83.      unto Salvation" but the only way this power is to be seen is
  84.      if the Gospel is empowered with the truth of praise.  The
  85.      power of praise is going to spread the Gospel into "All
  86.      Nations, then shall the end come".  Matt.24:14; Isa.61:11.

  88.      "2 cubits the height thereof".
  89.      The highest piece of furniture in the Holy Place.
  90.      -    the highest ministry and calling we have is to minister
  91.           to Him.
  92.      -    through the truth of Praise, etc., we ascend into the
  93.           spiritual heights of being seated in heavenly places.

  95.      V.3. "Overlay with pure Gold".
  96.      Pure Gold - praise purifies.  Prov.27:21.
  97.  
  98.      "Crown of Gold round about".
  99.      The purpose of this was to keep the hot coals from falling
  100.      off the Altar.
  101.      We know that He "is able to keep us from failing". (Jude
  102.      24), through His ministry of intercession on our behalf.
  103.      Heb.7:25, Isa.62:3.

  105.      V.4.  "Staves to bear it".
  106.      Always greater realms to appropriate in prayer and praise.

  108.      V.7.  "When he dresseth the lamps he shall burn incense upon
  109.      it".

  111.      Lamps trimmed and incense burnt at the same time.
  112.      -    as our Great High Priest prunes and trims off the old
  113.           burnt out parts of our lives, we are to offer the
  114.           Sacrifice of Praise.

  116.      V.8.  "When Aaron lighteth the lamps..... he shall burn
  117.      incense".
  118.      It's in prayer and praise we experience a release of His
  119.      anointing and presence.  Whenever we minister at the Altar
  120.      we are topped up with fresh oil and set aflame with a new
  121.      zeal.

  123. 3.   THE ALTAR AND THE PRESENT VISITATION.  Lk.1:5-23.
  124.  
  125.      It was at the time of incense that Zacharias experienced a
  126.      visitation from God and received a revelation of John the
  127.      Baptist and his ministry - to prepare a people ready for the
  128.      coming of the Lord.
  129.      -    so it is today - God is birthing and raising up "John
  130.           the Baptist ministries" at the time of Incense to
  131.           prepare a people and that "all things" might be
  132.           restored before His Second Coming.Isa.40:1-5;
  133.           Mal.3:1,4:3-6.Matt. 11:14, 17:11; Acts 3:21.
