  3.                     SERIES: GOD'S HABITATION.  LESSON NO.2.

  5. 4.   THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID.
  6.      Speaks of the truth of Praise, Worship, Restoration of the
  7.      Presence of God, Discipline and every other truth necessary
  8.      for the perfection of the Church.
  9.  
  10. The Ark (God's presence) now goes to David's Tent in order that God may
  11. introduce a final truth before settling in Solomon's Temple.
  12.  
  13. Scriptures: Acts 15:13-18; Amos 9:11-15; 1 Chron. 1 5:16; 11
  14. Sam.6:17-23. THE PROMISE.  Amos 9.
  15. (a)  Close up the breach.
  16. (b)  Raise up his ruins and build it as in former days.
  17. (c)  Possess the remnant of Edom.
  18. (d)  Possess the heathen called by His Name.
  19. (e)  Grain and wine harvest - a quick work (Pentecost and
  20.      Tabernacle).
  21. (f)  Turn the captivity of His people.
  22.  
  23. WHO DOES THIS BUILDING?
  24.  
  25. "I will raise up the Tabernacle .... I will raise up his
  26. ruins..... I will build it....... saith the Lord that doeth these
  27. things" . This is not a new denomination of men's making, a
  28. particular ministry but a sovereign work of the Lord.
  29.  
  30. WHAT WAS DAVID'S TABERNACLE?
  31.  
  32. Wedged between Moses' Tabernacle and Solomon's Temple, i.e. a
  33. brief time period of 40 years between the historical worship of
  34. Christianity and the perfect Church.  Exuberant praise constantly.
  35. There is only one piece of furniture. (The Ark).  There is no
  36. veil, form or tradition.  Prophecy, musical instruments, dancing,
  37. joy etc. - sharp contrast to Moses' pattern.
  38.  
  39. THREE MOUNTAINS.  Psalm 125:2 - "As mountains around Jerusalem..
  40. so the Lord is around about His people forever", There were 3 main
  41. mountains about Jerusalem.
  42. 1.   Gibeon - place of Moses' Tabernacle 1 Chron.21:29.
  43. 2.   Zion - place of David's Tent.
  44. 3.   Moriah - place where Solomon's Temple was.
  45.  
  46.  Note:- lsa.2:2 - "last days ... the mountains of the Lord's house
  47. (the Church) shall be established in the top of the mountains".
  48. This means the Church will be established and grounded upon the
  49. truths depicted in these 3 mountains.  This shows that God is not
  50. doing away with the teachings of Moses' Tabernacle (former truths)
  51. for it was still set up in Gibeon.  Neither is David's Tabernacle
  52. the ultimate, but all three signify important truths in which the
  53. Church must be grounded.

  55. RESTORATION OF THE ARK. 1 Chron.l5.
  56.  
  57. Steps taken in the recovery of the Ark is a picture of the steps
  58. we must take for His presence to be restored today.
  59.  
  60. 1 .  A desire for the return of the Ark.
  61.      God's people must have a hunger, a desperation for the
  62.      restoration of God's presence.  All that it contained and all
  63.      it represents is being restored today.  Note the significance
  64.      of its contents.
  65.  
  66.      (a)  The Rod - that budded = the anointing.  It had the Name
  67.           of the High Priest on it and not the Name of some tribe,
  68.           or tribal leader. Speaks of using the authority of the
  69.           Name of the Lord against powers of darkness.  The Rod in
  70.           the Most Holy Place is the fulfilment of the Candlestick
  71.           in the Holy Place.

  73.      (b)  Two Tablets of Stone.  This is typical of Holiness and
  74.           Purity and is a fulfilment of the Altar of Incense in
  75.           the Holy Place.  Compare Moses' two experiences on the
  76.           Mount - broke the Tablets and rewrote them, Jesus was
  77.           broken at Calvary because of the sins of the people, and
  78.           then at Pentecost, the Word was written on fleshly
  79.           Tablets of the heart.

  81.      (c)  Pot of Manna.  God's Word.  Manna in the wilderness.
  82.           This is the fulfilment of the loaves of bread in the
  83.           Holy Place on the Table.
  84.  
  85.      (d)  Book of the Law in the side of the Ark.  Deut.31:24-30;
  86.           11 Kings 22: 8-20.  Speaks of Josiah's restoration of
  87.           Israel.  This Book was hidden and closed up.  It was
  88.           re-discovered in Revival and is connected with coming
  89.           judgments, i.e. judgment for a failure to keep the
  90.           commandments it contained.  Today God restores His
  91.           presence - He is opening the Book of Revelation.
  92.  
  93. 2.   A place prepared for the Ark. 1 Chron. 15: 1.
  94.      This is the day of preparation among God's people to
  95.      accommodate the Ark of His presence.  A place must be
  96.      prepared in our hearts.
  97.  
  98. 3.   Levites set aside to carry the Ark.  Vs.2,12-14.
  99.      Note their high qualifications, Lev.21. Only those set apart
  100.      for God will be instrumental in bringing back the presence of
  101.      God and all associated with it.  God will use dedicated,
  102.      committed men.
  103.  
  104. 4.   Gathered all Israel together. vs.3.
  105.      We must be gripped by the vision of the coming together of
  106.      the Body of Christ if we want the Ark to return.  All tribal
  107.      barriers are to come down.  This is Jesus' prayer that they
  108.      may all be one.
  109.  
  110. 5.   Brought the Ark back with shouting, instruments of music,
  111.      singing, dancing, vs.28,16-29.
  112.      Praise and worship with instruments and great joy is vital
  113.      and necessary for the restoration of His presence in all its
  114.      fullness.
  115.  
  116. 6.   Offered 7 bullocks and 7 rams. vs.26.
  117.      A spirit of giving and sacrifice together with joy, singing
  118.      and dancing.  These 2 go together.  The no.7 speaks of
  119.      complete surrender.
  120.  
  121.
