Numerical Recipes Upgrade Instructions for MS-DOS
The current release of Numerical Recipes (Second Edition) is
version 2.02 in both C and FORTRAN. Previous releases were
version 2.00 (original release) and 2.01 (special Microsoft
release).
The file NR200202.EXE is a self-extracting patch utility which
upgrades version 2.00 or 2.01 files to version 2.02. Here is
how to use this utility:
1. If you are using Windows, make a DOS window with a DOS
command prompt.
2. Go to the directory into which you installed the Numerical
Recipes archive files, with names like NRF20REC.AR or NRC20REC.AR
The Numerical Recipes help utility NRHELP.EXE should also be
in this directory.
3. Copy the file NR200202.EXE into this directory.
4. At the DOS prompt, type NR200202
5. The self-extracting patch program will display informational
messages as it works. Existing files will be renamed to backup
names, not deleted.
6. The patch program is completely safe. It will have no effect
if accidentally applied a second time. It can be applied to
a directory containing a mixture of old and new versions. The patch
program requires about 380K of free memory to run and will display
a message if not enough memory is available.
7. If you wish, you may delete NR200202.EXE and the renamed old
file versions after the patch has been applied.
