Title: Deleting Words from the Speller Dictionary
Product: WordPerfect 5.1 for DOS
Number: 1127-10/93
Problem
While spell checking your document, you have added a misspelled
word to your dictionary. Now you want to remove that word.
Concept
If you select option 3 to add a word to your dictionary while you
are spell checking, that word is saved in a file called
WPXXX}us.sup, otherwise known as the supplemental dictionary.
This dictionary is a WordPerfect document, which means you can
retrieve, edit, and save it.
Solution
Locate the supplemental dictionary file and delete the misspelled
word.
1 Press Setup (Shift+F1), then choose Location of Files (6).
Your supplemental dictionary is listed under
Thesaurus/Spell/Hyphenation (3). Make a note of the directory it
is located in. If no directory is listed, then your dictionary
is stored in your default WordPerfect directory.
2 Press Exit (F7) to exit the Setup menu.
3 Press List (F5).
The default WordPerfect 5.1 directory is usually C:\WP51, unless
you specified another location during the installation.
4 If the C:\WP51 directory does not appear at the bottom of
the screen, switch to that directory.
5 Press Enter. Scroll down the list of files until you see
the WPXXX}us.sup file.
6 Choose Retrieve (1). Make the necessary corrections to the
misspelled word, or delete it from the dictionary.
7 Save the file under the same name when you are finished.
