What Is CED?
Software designed to provide a Clipper programmer an integrated development
environment to create applications. It also provides database management
utilities for manipulating database, index and memory files.
Do I Have To Be A Programmer To Use CED?
No! While Clipper programmers will find it useful for integrating their
programming tools into a common workarea, the majority of it's functionality
deals with manipulating data. The majority of functions found in dBase are
duplicated in CED; in fact, some of the features in CED are more powerful.
And the money saved by purchasing CED can pay for that fancy VGA monitor
you've been craving for!!
What File Types Does CED Support?
The *.Dbf, *.Frm, *.Lbl, and *.Mem file formats supported by dBase, DBXL and
Arago, Foxbase, Foxpro, and Rbase. CED uses the Foxpro *.Idx/*.Cdx index files
only.
Can CED Produce Output?
Yes. Not only can it create and modify the common *.Frm and *.Lbl formats, it
can create highly specialized formletters, tabular style reports and labels
using intuitive interface modules. You can print all records, a subset of
records by defining a query, or even individually tag records by scrolling
the database. Laser printer support is built in, as well as a large number of
pre-defined label sizes (also including laser printer-style labels).
What Are The Requirements For CED?
Any IBM-compatible computer with at least 640k of memory, a high density disk
drive (only if you recieve your copy of CED from other than a BBS), and a
monochrome or color monitor. While you could get away using CED without a
hard drive, it would be a less-than-pleasurable experience. The program files
for CED require approximately 950k of disk space; an additional 500k of
temporary space (a ram drive, preferably) is needed for swap files for
executing selected menu options.
Is CED Crippled Because It Is Shareware?
The only limitation built into CED demonstration version is a 15 minute time
limit. This method was chosen to provide you a fair opportunity to evaluate CED
without seriously hampering it's usage, and give me a means of trying to
persuade people to register my product. A substantial amount of hours have
gone into developing CED by myself and beta testers; for the price asked you
can't do any better for the niche it fills!
What Do I Get For Registering?
You will recieve a new copy of CED with no time limitation that is to used
on only YOUR computer system (don't be giving it to every person you run
across, or upload the uncrippled version onto a BBS). You will be notified by
mail on new versions of CED that will be forthcoming. Upgrades will be
substantially cheaper than outright purchasing the next version of CED.
Technical support will be provided on the CED BBS or by mail free of charge.
And you will make a programmer very happy that someone else finds his
software useful. As an added bonus you will get the 120+ function library
absolutely free!
