  1. Rib Editor Help
  2. The rib editor is similar to the edge editor, but has a
  3. few extra options (ie. Single & Double Title)
  4.  
  5. The icons at the bottom of the screen represent the
  6. different functions available to you. In order these are:
  7. ~Pencil~, ~Line~, ~Rectangle~, ~Ellipse~, ~Font~, ~Brush~, ~Fill~,
  8. ~Move~, ~Warp~, ~Erase~ and ~Fatbits~. Clicking on these
  9. icons with the left mouse button will select them. Using
  10. the right mouse button will pop up an option box so that
  11. you can change the available options (to pop down option
  12. boxes use the right mouse button on the same icon).

  14. `Option Descriptions` (L=left mouse button, R=right):
  15.  
  16. ~Pencil~ - L:draw in black, R:white
  17. ~Line~ - L:draw in black, fix point or join points
  18.        R:start a new poly sequence
  19. ~Rectangle~ - L:draw rectangle in black
  20.             R:scales block (moves bottom right corner)
  21. ~Circle~ - L:draw circle in black
  22.          R:scales block
  23. ~Font~ - L:displays text in black
  24.        R:enter text to be written
  25. ~Brush~ - L:draw in black, R:white
  26. ~Fill~ - L:flood fills an enclosed area, colour depends
  27.        on starting pixel.
  28. ~Move~ - L:1=select source block, 2=destination block
  29.        R:scale block
  30. ~Warp~ - L:1=select source block, 2=destination block
  31.        R:move point/scale block
  32.        R&L:select point to move
  33. ~Erase~ - L:erase in white
  34. ~Fatbits~ - L:zoom in, R:scale block

  36. NB: warp can be used to produce 3D effects

  39. `Special Functions
  40.  
  41. ~Undo~ - removes effects of last function
  42.  
  43. ~Single Title~ -
  44.    The text which is entered is scaled to span the rib.
  45.  
  46. ~Double Title~ -
  47.    Two titles are entered, the longer one is scaled to
  48.    span the rib, the other is written in the same font.
  49.  
  50. ~Double Title 2~ -
  51.    Two titles entered, both are scaled to span width,
  52.    plus a line is drawn to divide them.

  54. ~Soften~ -
  55.    Simply removes alternating pixels.

  57. Special Functions (continued...)
  58. ~Clear~ - Blanks the whole editting area
  59.  
  60. ~Trash It~ -
  61.    Ignores all changes and leaves editor. If you
  62.    reach an important stage of editting and are
  63.    planning major modifications it is a good idea
  64.    to select 'Finished' and then return to the
  65.    editor thereby 'storing' your artwork. If you
  66.    mess up you can select 'Trash it' and return to
  67.    your old image.

  69. ~Finished~ - Exit editor and save image to tape cover.

  71. NB: When editing text to be displayed by the titles,
  72.     one can change the font style by using the function
  73.     keys (F1 to F9 correspond to styles 1 to 9). The
  74.     background colour indicates the style number
  75.     (white=1,yellow=2,pink=3,red=4 etc.)

  78. `Tips When Designing Cover Edges
  79.  
  80. ∙ Use fatbits to remove extra dots which appear when
  81.   using outline font style.
  82. ∙ Use double title 2 for two titles - it looks better
  83. ∙ Don't draw too close to edges - doesn't look great
  84. ∙ Use different font styles for tape title and artist
  85.   (bold and outline for example)
