  19. YOUR-PLAN (r2.1) is an easy-to-use software package for 
  20. preparing a personal/household budget and cashflow projections
  21. for six months ahead. It enables you to project your income 
  22. and expenditure and to forecast monthly cashflows and end-month 
  23. bank and credit card balances. Use YOUR-PLAN to plan ahead
  24. and save money !!!!!!!!

  26. YOUR-PLAN is a fully operational and useful package and not 
  27. 'disabled' in any way. We have offered it as shareware to 
  28. encourage users to register and to purchase our other financial
  29. planning software products for preparing financial projections
  30. for the home and businesses. YOUR-PLAN is a "Guaranteed Irish"
  31. quality software product.

  33. YOUR-PLAN is NOT free software. It has been supplied on a "try-
  34. before-you-buy" basis. If you continue to use YOUR-PLAN after
  35. a 30-day trial period, you must register with the author,
  36. Invest-Tech.

  38. In return for registering, you will be licensed to use YOUR-PLAN
  39. on a single computer indefinitely and you will automatically
  40. receive (at no extra cost) a copy of the latest release of 
  41. PERS-PLAN, a more powerful and comprehensive personal financial 
  42. planner with its spiral-bound 90-page manual incorporating 
  43. tutorial exercises etc. You also gain access to full support 
  44. etc. for both products.

  46. Registration only costs £29 (twenty-nine pounds sterling) or 
  47. US$44, including p&p or S&H, so it will not break your family's 
  48. finances. Full registration details are contained in the 
  49. REGISTER.TXT file.

  52. copied in its entirety and without modification for FREE
  53. distribution to friends and, subject to the conditions set out
  54. in the VENDOR.TXT file, by shareware libraries etc.

  85. It is a breach of copyright to change, break-up or interfere
  86. with the set of files contained in the ZIP files (YOURPLAN.ZIP 
  87. and YOURPLAP.ZIP) or in any other achive file being used by a 
  88. shareware library to distribute YOUR-PLAN as a complete set of
  89. files.

  91. If you wish to give a copy of YOUR-PLAN to friends etc., you 
  92. should copy the following files in their entirety:

  109. Depending on the precise format in which you received YOUR-PLAN, 
  110. you may also have received seven additional files (PICPRT.*) 
  111. containing an utility for printing YOUR-PLAN's graphs. These may be
  112. contained in a separate archive file (YOURPLAP.ZIP). Even if these
  113. files are not present, you can still print graphs as will be 
  114. explained when you start using YOUR-PLAN.
  115.  
  116. The text file FILELIST.TXT contains a list of all YOUR-PLAN's 
  117. files with brief descriptions of their functions. If you have 
  118. obtained a copy of YOUR-PLAN from an unknown source, take care 
  119. that you have not also secured a virus !  Either, run a virus check 
  120. or secure a copy directly from a reputable source.
  121.  
  122. If using a hard disk or single 3.5" disk, all the foregoing files 
  123. should be kept together on the same disk/subdirectory. If using 
  124. dual 5.25" drives, the following files MUST be located as follows 
  125. on two disks:

  135. Before starting to use YOUR-PLAN, we recommend that you review
  136. this entire file either on-screen or, preferably, after printing
  137. it. It includes brief instructions for loading YOUR-PLAN which
  138. should enable you to start using the package. 
  139.  
  140. Another supplied text file (MANUAL.TXT), explains, in much more 
  141. detail, how to load and use YOUR-PLAN. Because YOUR-PLAN is
  142. very intuitive and contains very extensive 'on-line' help, you
  143. may only need to refer to this file on an occasional basis.
  144. However, you may wish to print it at this stage in order to
  145. have it readily accessible for future reference, or if you get
  146. "stuck",  or need detailed guidance on a specific issue.
  147.  
  148. We have also included with YOUR-PLAN a text file (MONEY.TXT)
  149. which contains dozens of famous (and not so well-known)
  150. quotations on the subject of "money". If you feel depressed
  151. about your personal finances after using YOUR-PLAN, you should
  152. have a look at MONEY.TXT. It MIGHT cheer you up !! We welcome
  153. further quotations for inclusion in the next release of 
  154. YOUR-PLAN. More seriously, have a look at Section 6.5 within
  155. the manual text file (MANUAL.TXT) for some basic ideas on
  156. utilising the output from YOUR-PLAN to improve your financial
  157. planning and/or position.
  158.  
  159. If you pay income tax (who doesn't), refer to the tax text file
  160. (TAX.TXT). This contains some additional quotes about taxation as
  161. well as tables indicating basic tax allowances and rates for the 
  162. UK and Irish tax regimes.
  163.  
  164. To print a text file:
  165.  
  166.  1.  Exit this file. 
  167.  2.  Make sure your printer is 'on-line' and is supplied with 
  168.      ample paper. 
  169.  3.  Type "PRINT ??.TXT" at the drive prompt (e.g C:\your>)
  170.      to which you have installed YOUR-PLAN and press the RETURN
  171.      key in respond to a prompt about the name of devices.
  172.  
  173.     For example, type "PRINT REGISTER.TXT" to print the 
  174.     supplied file containing the Registration Form.
  175.  
  176. To read a text file on screen:
  177.  
  178.   1. Exit this file. 
  179.   2. Type "TYPE ??.TXT|MORE" at the drive prompt (e.g 
  180.      C:\your>) to which you have installed YOUR-PLAN. The "|" 
  181.      refers to the vertical bar/pipe symbol on your keyboard 
  182.      (look for it in the lower left corner).
  183.  
  184.        For example, type "TYPE REGISTER.TXT|MORE" to display
  185.        the supplied file containing the Registration Form.

  187. If you are using Windows, you can print or view the text files
  188. using the Notepad accessory.

  192.           B - GENERAL INTRODUCTION
  193.           ========================
  194.  
  195. YOUR-PLAN is an easy-to-use software package for preparing a
  196. personal budget and cashflow projections for six months ahead.
  197. It can be used to improve the management of your finances by
  198. forecasting your income and expenditure. The resulting budget
  199. can then be used to improve your financial planning & control
  200. and, ultimately, to save yourself money. 
  201.  
  202. For a more detailed and formal description of YOUR-PLAN, you 
  203. should refer to the text file called VENDOR.TXT.
  204.  
  205. Based on your estimates and assumptions, YOUR-PLAN compiles a
  206. detailed and summary budget for up to a six months ahead. It
  207. also produces reports analysing the budget and detailing all
  208. your underlying assumptions on income and expenditure. 
  209. YOUR-PLAN incorporates facilities for graphing key results;
  210. overwriting assumptions by actuals; undertaking 'what-if' 
  211. analysis; and rolling-forward assumptions and projections one
  212. month at a time.
  213.  
  214. YOUR-PLAN is very suitable for users with limited or no
  215. prior experience of computers as well as for more experienced
  216. computer users who do not wish to go to the very considerable
  217. trouble, or to waste valuable time, developing their own 
  218. planning system on a spreadsheet. Bear in mind that YOUR-PLAN
  219. involved hundreds of hours of development and years of 
  220. "know-how".
  221.  
  222. To run YOUR-PLAN you need the following system:
  223.  
  224.  * Industry-standard PC with DOS 3.30 or higher and a hard disk,
  225.    or dual 3.5" or 5.25" drives. 
  226.  * Conventional memory of 640k. 
  227.  * VGA, GCA, mono, Hercules or LCD display (or equivalent). 
  228.  
  229. A printer (dot-matrix, ink-jet or laser) is desirable. You can 
  230. run YOUR-PLAN as a DOS program within Windows (use the supplied
  231. icon called YOURPLAN.ICO).
  232.  
  233. YOUR-PLAN complements the very many personal financial packages
  234. currently available in the market. Most of these are basically
  235. household accounts systems with only very limited budgeting
  236. facilities. To our best knowledge, very few of them have any
  237. dynamic planning capabilities, similar to YOUR-PLAN's. To 
  238. produce any form of projections with most of these systems, 
  239. you must first keep historic accounts. For many people, this is 
  240. a pain in the ......  Most of us are much more interested in 
  241. projecting our income/expenditure and making ends meet in the 
  242. FUTURE, rather than in learning about the past ("water under 
  243. the bridge", "closing the stable door after the horse has 
  244. bolted" and that sort of thing).
  245.  
  246. Historic data is NOT required to use YOUR-PLAN. However, if you 
  247. do happen to keep household accounts (either manual or 
  248. computer-based), past data on income and expenditure patterns 
  249. etc. should help you make more accurate projections for the 
  250. future.
  251.  
  252. Features
  253. --------
  254. YOUR-PLAN's features include the following:
  255.  
  256. * Seven categories of income (salary for one wage earner,
  257.   reimbursed work expenses, dividends, rent etc.).
  258.  
  259. * Facilities for handling salary deductions based on absolute
  260.   amounts and simple percentages as well as different
  261.   percentages related to bands and thresholds (as for PAYE 
  262.   income tax) specified by the user. YOUR-PLAN is not
  263.   restricted to any particular tax system or currency. Basic             
  264.   information on current tax bands and rates for the UK and 
  265.   Ireland is contained in a supplied file (TAX.TXT).
  266.  
  267. * Sixteen main expenditure groups (household, car,
  268.   accommodation etc.) incorporating twenty-eight subgroups
  269.   which can be defined by a user. 
  270.  
  271. * Facilities for planning credit card expenditure and payments
  272.   and for calculating interest on any outstanding balances.
  273.  
  274. * Current and deposit accounts with facilities for calculating
  275.   interest on the basis of specified interest rates, handling
  276.   accrued interest and specifying interest payment dates.

  278. Help
  279. ----
  280. YOUR-PLAN is entirely menu-driven and incorporates very
  281. comprehensive context-sensitive help facilities. These 
  282. include extensive menu prompts, error trapping, on-line Help 
  283. Pages, pop-up Hint & Guidance Windows, annotated variable 
  284. descriptions and "drill-down" values. A very comprehensive 
  285. manual is supplied as an accompanying text file (MANUAL.TXT).

  297. ------------
  298. The idea behind shareware is to allow a user to evaluate a 
  299. software package at minimal cost - "try-before-you-buy". 
  300.  
  301. YOUR-PLAN is NOT FREE software. If you decide that you would
  302. like to retain and continue to use YOUR-PLAN after a 30-day
  303. trial period, you must register with Invest-Tech, the author
  304. and copyright holder. 
  305.  
  306. In return for registering, a user is licensed to continue
  307. using YOUR-PLAN on one computer without any time limit.
  308. In addition, a user automatically receives (at no extra cost)
  309. a fully-operational copy of a much more powerful and comprehensive 
  310. version of YOUR-PLAN, called PERS-PLAN, with its 90-page 
  311. spiral-bound printed manual (incorporating tutorial exercises
  312. etc.). You also gain access to full support for both products.
  313.  
  314. Further details about PERS-PLAN are given below and within 
  315. YOUR-PLAN itself. (Practically all registrants immediately switch 
  316. over from YOUR-PLAN to PERS-PLAN as soon as they receive the 
  317. latter).
  318.  
  319. The Registration Fee is £29 (twenty-nine pounds sterling) or
  320. US$44 including p&p or S&H. Cheques, drafts, international money 
  321. orders, Eurocheques etc. are all acceptable provided that they are 
  322. denominated in pounds sterling, US$ or Irish pounds. Payment can 
  323. also be made by credit card (Visa, Access, MasterCard or Eurocard).

  325. Registration is via Invest-Tech Limited for Europe etc. and 
  326. through "PsL" (Public software Library) for the US/Canada.

  328. YOUR-PLAN contains a built-in Registration Form. Alternatively
  329. you can use the Registration Form contained in the REGISTER.TXT 
  330. file.
  331.  
  332. PERS-PLAN 
  333. ---------
  334. PERS-PLAN, the version of YOUR-PLAN which is automatically 
  335. supplied (at no extra cost) to all users on registering, includes 
  336. many additional features and facilities:
  337.  
  338.   *  Covers a 12-month period with separate full-year reports
  339.   *  Handles incomes, salary deductions etc. for one or two 
  340.      wage-earners
  341.   *  Much more extensive range of expenditure assumptions
  342.   *  More function keys to facilitate data entry etc.
  343.   *  Different printer set-ups can be used for monthly and
  344.      full-year reports.
  345.  
  346. It is supplied with a 90-page spiral-bound manual. Note that
  347. PERS-PLAN does not yet include the PICprint graph printing 
  348. utility supplied with YOUR-PLAN - we are working on it. 
  349. However, you can still print PERS-PLAN's graphs as will be 
  350. explained when you run the package.
  351.  
  352. Invest-Tech Limited
  353. -------------------
  354. We are management consultants specialising in financial and
  355. business planning software. Formed in 1983, Invest-Tech is a 
  356. Registered Practice within the Institute of Management
  357. Consultants in Ireland and the UK. Our banker is Bank of
  358. Ireland, O'Connell Bridge, Dublin 1, and our auditors are
  359. Deloitte & Touche, Dublin.

  370.        Note: These is a shareware version of BANK-PLAN.
  371.          Look for a file called BANKPLAN.ZIP or contact
  372.          your friendly shareware library.

  374. CASH-PLAN: 4-week + 11-month cashflow planner for small/medium
  375.        sized businesses, subsidiaries of large companies
  376.        and corporate cash planning. Runs 'stand-alone' and
  377.        with similar general structure to YOUR-PLAN. More
  378.        powerful version of BANK-PLAN with additional
  379.        features and facilities. £115 (one hundred and
  380.        fifteen pounds sterling or equivalent including VAT
  381.        etc.)
  382.  
  383. EASI-PLAN: A comprehensive and fully-integrated financial planner
  384.        (P&Ls, cashflows, balance sheets, ratios etc.)      
  385.        covering 12-months plus 8 quarters. To our best                 
  386.        knowledge, no other package even remotely offers the 
  387.        same range of features or facilities for business and 
  388.        financial planning. Runs 'stand-alone' with similar 
  389.        general structure to YOUR-PLAN. £175 (one hundred and 
  390.        seventy-five pounds sterling or equivalent including 
  391.        VAT etc.)
  392.  
  393. FIN-PLAN:  Wide range of comprehensive and fully-integrated
  394.        financial planners (P&Ls, cashflows, balance sheets,
  395.        ratios etc.) covering 12-months plus 8/16 quarters. 
  396.        Versions are available to run on Lotus 1-2-3 (any
  397.        release for DOS or Windows), Symphony & SuperCalc. 
  398.        Extensive menus with numerous features and facilities. 
  399.        Easily expanded by user. £234 (two hundred and 
  400.        thirty-four pounds sterling or equivalent including 
  401.        VAT etc.)
  402.  
  403. Comprehensive descriptions, specifications and 'demos' are
  404. available for each of the foregoing products.
  405.  
  406. Intending purchasers of these products who are registered for
  407. VAT in any country (other than Ireland) within the European
  408. Community can deduct VAT at 21% from the above prices PROVIDED
  409. that they quote their VAT number at the time of ordering.

  411. All purchasers from outside the European Community can also 
  412. deduct the 21% VAT from the above prices but they should add 10%
  413. to cover shipping by airmail etc.

  417.            C - HOW TO RUN YOUR-PLAN 
  418.            ========================

  420. Refer to Section 3 of the MANUAL.TXT text file for more detailed 
  421. instructions if you run into any problems.

  423. Note that you can run YOUR-PLAN as a DOS program within Windows.
  424.  
  425. The following guidelines assume that you have already installed
  426. (i.e. copied, unzipped, unarchived, uncompressed etc.) the
  427. complete set of YOUR-PLAN files onto a hard disk, a 3.5" disk 
  428. or two 5.25" disks (assumed to be called A and B).
  429.   
  430. If YOUR-PLAN has been installed onto a hard disk:
  431.  
  432.      a) Get into the sub-directory where you have installed
  433.     all YOUR-PLAN's files. For example, if the sub-directory
  434.     YOUR was used, type "CD YOUR" and press RETURN at the 
  435.     DOS prompt.
  436.  
  437.      b) For general introductory information, type "GO".
  438.      
  439.      or
  440.      c) For guidance on the syntax for loading YOUR-PLAN etc. 
  441.     type "YP".
  442.      
  443.      or
  444.      d) Type "YP MASTER" to load YOUR-PLAN along with a set of
  445.     specimen assumptions in a file called MASTER.ASS (Make 
  446.     sure that there is a single space between "YP" and 
  447.     "MASTER").

  449.     Make a working copy of MASTER. From the Main Menu, press
  450.     F (for File), N (for New) and enter as file name (WORKING
  451.     is recommended.

  487.     YOUR-PLAN (and, presumably, labelled as A & B) into 
  488.     their respective drives. If you are unclear about the
  489.     correct distribution of files on the two disks, refer
  490.     to the Section called "A - Supplied Files" above for 
  491.     guidance.

  493.      b) For on-screen guidance about the syntax for loading 
  494.     YOUR-PLAN etc. type "YP". 
  495.  
  496.      c) Switch to the drive with Disk A, e.g. type "A:" if this 
  497.     disk was inserted in drive A, and press RETURN.
  498.  
  499.      d) Type "YP B:MASTER" to load YOUR-PLAN along with a set
  500.     of specimen assumptions in a file called MASTER.ASS
  501.     which should be on Disk B and is assumed to be located
  502.     in the B drive (Make sure that there is a single space
  503.     between "YP" and "B:MASTER").

  505.      e) Make a working copy of MASTER. From the Main Menu, press
  506.     F (for File), N (for New) and enter as file name (WORKING
  507.     is recommended.

  515.             D - WHAT IS SHAREWARE ?
  516.             =======================
  517.  
  518. "Shareware" is a method of software distribution designed to
  519. give users a chance to test a package before purchase at a very
  520. competitive price. Copyright rules apply to shareware and the
  521. authors retain all the rights except as indicated in their licence
  522. agreements. As you will see from YOUR-PLAN, shareware does not 
  523. signify cheap (in the nasty sense) or poor quality software.
  524.  
  525. Subject to the terms and conditions of our User Licence Agreement
  526. (see below) and Distributor Agreement (see VENDOR.TXT), you are 
  527. free to copy YOUR-PLAN for friends etc. provided that no charge 
  528. is made and recipients are made aware of the need to register 
  529. as users if they wish to retain the package. As all the supplied 
  530. files must be copied in their entirety and without modification, 
  531. we suggest that you only copy the archived files, YOURPLAN.EXE 
  532. (with START.BAT) or YOURPLAN.ZIP (with YOURPLAP.ZIP), for this
  533. purpose.

  535. Shareware distributors, bulletin board and commercial on-line 
  536. system operators are invited to become distributors of 
  537. YOUR-PLAN and to list it for supply or downloading to their

  546. YOUR-PLAN is a "shareware" program. IT IS NOT "freeware", 
  547. "public domain" software etc. You are granted a licence to use 
  548. YOUR-PLAN only under the terms and conditions specified in this

  551. YOUR-PLAN is owned at all times by Invest-Tech and is fully 
  552. protected by copyright throughout the world.

  554. After a free initial 30-day trial period, every user who wishes
  555. to continue using YOUR-PLAN must make a registration payment to 
  556. the author, Invest-Tech. If you do not register, you must stop 
  557. using YOUR-PLAN after the trial period. 
  558.  
  559. Once registered, YOUR-PLAN is licensed for use, without any time 
  560. restriction, on one computer or at one network node by the 
  561. registered user.  In return for registered, you will also receive
  562. a copy of the latest release of PERS-PLAN (more powerful version
  563. of YOUR-PLAN) with its printed manual. In addition, you gain 
  564. access to support for YOUR-PLAN and PERS-PLAN  by mail, phone 
  565. or fax for three calendar months following confirmation of 
  566. registration by Invest-Tech. After this period, the provision 
  567. of support will be at Invest-Tech's discretion. Unregistered 
  568. copies of YOUR-PLAN are unsupported.

  570. YOUR-PLAN has been supplied strictly on the understanding that
  571. the software and all its associated files and documentation
  572. will not be translated, repackaged, replicated, dismantled, 
  573. reverse-engineered or modified in any way. It must not be copied,
  574. sold, transferred, lent, rented or leased to any user or third 
  575. party except under the terms and conditions set out in the 
  576. accompanying VENDOR.TXT file. If you copy YOUR-PLAN for friends 
  577. to try, you must include all the files contained in YOURPLAN.ZIP,
  578. and YOURPLAP.ZIP or YOURPLAN.EXE.

  580. YOUR-PLAN must not be sold as "rackware" or used as a promotion or 
  581. enticement for any commercial venture (including use as a "cover"
  582. disk for a periodical) unless prior written approval has been 
  583. secured from Invest-Tech.

  585. YOUR-PLAN is supplied strictly on an "as is" basis and without
  586. any warranty either expressed or implied as to merchantability,
  587. performance, or fitness for any purpose.  The user must assume
  588. the entire risk of using the program. Every user is advised to 
  589. always test and check the output thoroughly before relying on 
  590. its results or contents.  Invest-Tech accepts no responsibility 
  591. and no liability whatsoever for any defects, errors or incidental
  592. or consequential losses or damages associated either directly
  593. or indirectly with its usage.

  595. Distribution and/or use of YOUR-PLAN signifies acceptance of
  596. these terms and conditions. Violators of the copyright terms of
  597. this agreement may be prosecuted.
