Quick Setup instructions:
Mail2Fax.EXE scans a message base for specially addressed messages
(e.g. TO: FAX MAIL @ 555-1212)
FAX.PPE helps user to enter faxes.
To Install:
MD \ZFAX Create a directory to hold all Mail2Fax files and software
as well as your fax software.
Copy in all files from this diskette, as well as your fax
software and the files it requires.
If you have a dedicated directory for PPE files, place
SENDFAX.PPE and FORWARD.PPE there.
EVENT Set up one or more event files to invoke Mail2Fax.EXE, e.g.
CD \ZFAX
MAIL2FAX MAIL2FAX C:\PCB\MAIN\MSGS58 FAXFILE
Set up your event times to run the software.
Callerlog Specify where you want Mail2Fax to log all the faxes it sent.
We use CALLER1, CALLER2 etc for various nodes, e.g.
C:\PCBLOG\CALLER%PCBNODE% // Log file to use
FAX command Using PCB setup, select B, File locations/Configuration files
Edit CMD.LST and add the FAX command:
FAX 50 C:\ZFAX\SENDFAX.PPE 58 N N
Note the "58 N N". Here 58 is the Faxmail conference.
N N are for No LD calls and Fax Conf is non-echo.
FAXMAIL conf. Set up a new conference using PCBSETUP. (#58 in our example)
Non-echo if you do not want netmail. (See the section on
Netmail Fax Messages.)
ID's Since you are using FAX MAIL as a sort of user id, make sure
no-one can log on with that ID.
Bulletin Create a Bulletin or News file for your users to tell them
about the new service. A sample is included as FAX.BLT
Help files Copy the files "FAX" and "FORWARD" to your PCB Help directory,
How to use it Once the instalation is complete, using M2F is easy. Use the
FAX command to enter a fax/message, and that's it. The rest
is automatic. You do want to review your CALLER log from time
to time to check usage and to check for any problems.
DEBUG option Once the setup is working as expected remove DEBUG from CFG
file to eliminate unneeded messages.
Call our BBS at (416) 588-9690 to register and download your key file ($30 or
$45). Without key file only the first three lines of a message are faxed.
