This Board allows you to send faxes.
The FAX command allows you to enter a message to be sent via fax.
The process is very similar to entering an ordinary message, except that the
FAX command will ask you:
» the telephone number you want the fax sent to (there must be a fax
machine connected to that line, ready to receive a fax.)
Normally only local calls are allowed.
» the name of the persson (or company) to whose attention you're sending
the fax.
» the subject
This information will be printed on the coversheet that will be automatically
generated.
Note that this board does not provide any facilities for you to RECEIVE faxes.
(As is also stated on the coversheet.)
The FAX command will also ask you if you want to receive a reply if the fax
was successfully sent. If you do not select this option you will receive a
reply only if the fax was not sent (explaining the reason).
Once you have answered these question, the FAX command enters you into editor
mode to enter/upload the text for the fax.
On the first line of your message, you'll see the ATTENTN line. You should not
edit that line. If you do, make very sure that you did not affect its format,
or the Attention line on the cover sheet may be missing.
Fax Aliases
This system supports fax aliasses that are synonyms for specific, commonly used
fax numbers. There is a list of these. Check your system's Bulletins (B
command for more information. When using the FAX command, enter ? when the
command asks you for a fax number, and the system will show you the list.
