  11. |PURPOSE:  THIS INFORMATION APAR PROVIDES INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW |                 
  12. |          TO SEND THE PROBLEM DOCUMENTATION (TRACES AND      |                 
  13. |          FILES) REQUESTED BY A COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER       |                 
  14. |          LEVEL 2 SPECIALIST TO THE IBM SUPPORT CENTER.      |

  17. |  AT THIS POINT, A LEVEL 2 SPECIALIST HAS REQUESTED THAT                       
  18. |  PROBLEM DOCUMENTATION BE SENT TO LEVEL 2 FOR PROBLEM                         
  19. |  ANALYSIS.  THERE ARE FOUR METHODS TO CHOSE FROM:                             
  20. |                                                                               
  21. |      0. ELECTRONICALLY VIA IBMMAIL OR IBMLink                                 
  22. |      1. ELECTRONICALLY THRU THE NETWORK BY THE SE                             
  23. |      2. FAX                                                                   
  24. |      3. EXPRESS COURIER                                                       
  25. |      4. U.S. MAIL                                                             
  26. |                                                                               
  27. |  BEFORE SENDING ANY INFORMATION A PROBLEM RECORD (PMR)                        
  28. |  MUST BE OPEN WITH THE IBM SUPPORT CENTER.                                    
  29. |                                                                               
  30. |  After sending the information please call                                    
  31. |  the IBM Support Center at 1-800-237-5511 to                                  
  32. |  inform IBM Communications Manager Level 2 that                               
  33. |  the information has been sent and the                                        
  34. |  method of transport.

  40. |  If you have an IBMMAIL or IBMLink id, then you may send                      
  41. |  problem information electronically to Level 2.                               
  42. |                                                                               
  43. |  The filename must be the PMR number.  The                                    
  44. |  extension should identify the files. For example,                            
  45. |  MESSAGE.DAT would be  9x999.msg, where 9x999 is the                          
  46. |  PMR number.  All files should be submitted as                                
  47. |  binary files. Reference Information APAR II06459

  49. |  THE IBM MAIL ADDRESS IS:  USIB4J5S at IBMMAIL                                
  50. |  THE IBMLink ADDRESS IS:   DEFECT AT RALVM5

  52. |  THE IBMLink and IBMMAIL                                                      
  53. |  addresses are not monitored for notes. Please call                           
  54. |  the IBM Support Center to update the PMR at phone number,                    
  55. |  1-800-237-5511, or update the Electronic PMR. If you                         
  56. |  would like to send additional information with                               
  57. |  the problem information files, please create a separate                      
  58. |  file called: 'pmrnumber TXT'.

  67. |  AN IBM SE can transmit files from a Customer's diskette to                   
  68. |  Level 2 as follows:                                                          
  69. |                                                                               
  70. |  Send the files from the diskette to your PROFS or VMID,                      
  71. |  using Communications Manager:                                                
  72. |                                                                               
  73. |     Logon to your PROFS or VMID.                                              
  74. |                                                                               
  75. |     In an OS/2 Window for each file enter:                                    
  76. |                                                                               
  77. |     SEND  A:filename.extension  A:fn ft fm ( RECFM V                          
  78. |           |                     |                                             
  79. |           +---> disk drive      +---> Short Session ID                        
  80. |                                                                               
  81. |     The filename should be the PMR number.  The                               
  82. |     extension should identify the files. For example,                         
  83. |     MESSAGE.DAT would be  9x999.msg, where 9x999 is the                       
  84. |     PMR number.  All files should be submitted as                             
  85. |     binary files.

  87. |  On your PROFS or VMID, send the files to DEFECT at RALVM5.                   
  88. |                                                                               
  89. |      For example:  SENDFILE 9x999.MSG TO DEFECT AT RALVM5.                    
  90. |                                                                               
  91. |                                                                               
  92. |  DEFECT AT RALVM5 is not monitored for PROFS notes.  If you                   
  93. |  would like to send additional information, create a CMS file                 
  94. |  called  'PMR number' TXT.  For example: XEDIT 9x999 TXT.                     
  95. |  Please send this file to DEFECT at RALVM5                                    
  96. |  instead of a PROFS NOTE.
