ATZ - 3.00 { 10/12/91 }
1: Copy all programs to communications directory.
2: Copy DSZ.COM/EXE to directory which is included in PATH
Note this program (ATZ) was written to be used with a REGISTERED
copy of DSZ. If you have not registered your copy of DSZ you will
be presented with many advertisments which degrade the performance
of ATZ...
3: Parameters needed to run - none
4: Enter ATZ.EXE to start ATZ. Once a selection that causes DSZ to
start its terminal mode is selected, entering a function 1 (F1),
will cause DSZ to return to the ATZ main menu. While transfers
are in progress entering an Alt/N will cause DSZ to 'Nuke' the
current transfer in progress and return to DSZ terminal mode.
5: Upon ATZ start-up a new file titled ATZ.CFG will be created in the
same directory where ATZ.EXE resides. This file is for storing
system name/numbers/passwords, DSZ start-up parameters, and download
path used for single file downloads.
For all data entry that is allowed, this system uses the majority
of Word Star / Turbo Pascal control characters.
<Left>, <CtrlS> ------------- Cursor left one char.
<Right>, <CtrlD> ------------ Cursor right one char.
<CtrlLeft>, <CtrlA> --------- Cursor left one word.
<CtrlRight>, <CtrlF> -------- Cursor right one word.
<Home>, <CtrlQ><S> ---------- Cursor to beginning of line.
<End>, <CtrlQ><D> ----------- Cursor to end of line.
<Del>, <CtrlG> -------------- Delete char at cursor.
<Bksp>, <CtrlH>, <CtrlBksp> - Delete char to left of cursor.
<CtrlY> --------------------- Delete current line.
<CtrlEnd>, <CtrlQ><Y> ------- Delete from cursor to end of line.
<CtrlT> --------------------- Delete word to right of cursor.
<CtrlHome> ------------------ Delete from beginning of field to
cursor.
<Enter>, <CtrlM> ------------ Start a new line.
<Tab>, <CtrlI> -------------- Tab to next tab stop.
<ShiftTab> ------------------ Move back tab stop.
<Ins> ----------------------- Toggle insert mode on and off.
<CtrlR>, <CtrlQ><L> --------- Restore original contents of line.
<Up>, <CtrlE> --------------- Move up field.
<Down>, <CtrlX> ------------- Move down field.
<CtrlPgUp>, <CtrlQ><R> ------ Move to first field on screen.
<CtrlPgDn>, <CtrlQ><C> ------ Move to last field on screen.
<CtrlEnter>, <CtrlK><D> ----- Finished with data entry.
6: At this time, at a minimum, enter the 'Options' main menu
selection by either entering an 'O' or by using the cursor keys
to highlight 'Options' and then entering a 'Return'. Fill in the
download path (default of \ 'root directory') to point to a path
that EXISTS on your hard drive, if you have a floppy based system
then A: or B: etc.. will be the most generic option available for
same. If desired, alter the DSZ start-up parameter 'port 1 speed
1200 d t' to match the port used by your modem and cursor to the
1200 and alter this to the desired baud rate for your modem. NOTE,
if you change the PORT in the DSZ parameter you MUST also alter
the following 'Comm port' option, this is used for modem setup
during phone dialing. Note for HST owners, the highest workable
baud is 38400. This simple setup should suffice for the majority
of users.
Baud Rates supported: 300/1200/2400/4800/9600/19200/38400
The only other option on this screen (Options) that may need
alteration is the 'Dial Prefix' which is defaulted to T for tone
systems, (the ATDT dialing command recognized by Hayes compatible
modems) and this may be changed to P for those modems connected
to a Rotary tone phone.
7: Before the ability to auto dial another system is possible you
must enter from the main menu a P, or use the cursor keys to
position over 'Phone' and enter a return. You will be presented
with available space to enter your most often called phone numbers,
those systems names and the passwords associated with those
systems, note that the password is for your reference only and
need not be present if security is an issue at your site. When
data entry is complete entering a Ctrl/Enter will cause all data
to be written to the above mentioned ATZ.CFG file.
8: Once phone numbers are entered, entering a C at the main menu or
using the cursor keys, to position over 'Call' and entering a
return will produce a listing of the above entered phone numbers.
You may either cursor to the desired entry and enter a return or
you may enter one of the ascending alphabetic letters that are
positioned to the left of the phone entries. The system will now
send the ATDT or ATDP command followed by the chosen phone
number to the COMM port that was selected earlier. Also at this
time the system will issue the DSZ command to cause DSZ's
terminal mode to become activated.
9: Downloads are accomplished by entering either D at the main menu or
by using the cursor keys to position over 'Download' at the main
menu and entering a return. At this time a menu will pop-up which
will offer the choice of Zmodem/Ymodem/Ymodem-1K (1k-Xmodem).
Entering Zmodem or Ymodem causes DSZ batch mode to become effective,
the earlier Download path set in the 'Options' area will be the area
where the download will be received. Entering a K at the download
menu will present you with a data entry line requesting the name of
the file to download. This K type of download will also be
downloaded to the above mentioned download path. NOTE that
overriding that download path is not allowed, if this is desired
(override) then either Shell to dos and DSZ rz new_path etc.. or
enter the 'Options' area at the main menu and enter a new download
path followed by a Ctrl/Enter.
10: Uploads are similar to downloads but the Download path is not
utilized and for each protocol you will be presented with a data
entry window asking for the name/s of files to be transferred.
11: The Terminal mode option at the main menu can be used for manual use
of ATZ, or after returning from Shell, a method available for
returning to the system you are connected to. Note that if you
Shelled just to find a file for Uploading etc... After the Upload
option of ATZ is complete ATZ automatically jumps to the DSZ terminal
mode.
12: To register this program send to the following
