Subject New features for BBSERV.EXE V2.11J (c) F.M.Crosby W1NPR
If you haven't updated in a while also read VERSIONH.DOC
BBSERV.LOG, INPUT.TXT and UPDATE.LOG are all created with an IMPORT
format addressed to BBScall so BBSERV will create messages to you at
whatever times you wish to report the operation of the server and keep
you informed of all uploads & input files. They will appear with your
call as a regular message you may read with the RM RU & KM commands.
Each database now has it's own custom trailer in which you may put any
pertinent information you wish. If you don't have one it will still run
just the same. Possible reasons for trailers might be a disclaimer for
MODS or advising of recent updates etc. You name it.
We have re-written lots of code. The server will run in 30K less memory
than previous versions. I am testing it now at only 78k available when
the shell is called up. If you had any error #7 memory errors on the W
or LIST commands this should eliminate them. I did remove a lot of my
own diagnostics from the program however. The W & LIST messages also
are able to handle 200 filename.ext & size lists but we did have to
take out the date/time stamp to do it but I think it well worth it as the
code is much cleaner & chance for errors is reduced. I am also using a
few temporary files instead of large arrays in memory but have compiled
differently and actually speeded up the server in these areas.
There are lots of small details such as removing the reference to the
BBS directory I had in there for my system in the DU replies.
I am still weak in the documentation and as most of you know there is a
few things I have in there I just can't remember till you ask. 73 Free >>
