  1. Update help for BBSERV.EXE (c) 1991 Freeman M. Crosby W1NPR  (SRQLAN)

  3. 1.You do not have to take the BBS off the air to set up BBSERV !
  4.  
  5. 2.Copy all the files on the distribution disk to your "BB" directory or your
  6.   ;bbserv_dir = path.   directory you will define in parms.bb
  7.  
  8. 3.Edit parms.bb with the EF command, Run SETSERVE.EXE with EX DOS SETSERVE
  9.  
  10. 4.Follow instructions & help in SETSERVE.EXE & then run it. Good luck !

  12. So far we have had no problems reported except cockpit errors from the users
  13. SETSERVE.EXE has been modified to check for errors in your setup that might
  14. cause trouble.

  16. One poorly documented fact is you MUST have the subdirectory_ok = NO in any
  17. public directory used for both REBBS & BBSERV data in parms.bb . 
  18. This won't cause an error but users will be able to get to the "OWNERS" 
  19. section of this database.

  21. Newer versions allow the BBSERV files to all be in their own subdirectory
  22. disk or whatever path you set in the ;bbserv_dir = path command   
  23. Put all the files on the disk it this directory & run setserve.exe from
  24. this directory and the only file in the "BB"default will be bbserv.set
  25. which is created by setserve to configure the server.
