SuperMorse CW Program Documentation

THIS PROGRAM IS WRITTEN FOR THE IBM PC, XT, OR AT COMPUTERS (OR
EQUIVALENT) WITH AT LEAST ONE SERIAL PORT.
This program is SHAREWARE and as such is owned by Power Mountain
Systems. If you use the program you are required to register it. Registration
is only $25.00. If we have upgraded the program you'll receive the latest
version upon registration.
If you have purchased the PMX-200 (or an equivalent product) from Power
Mountain Systems then you are already registered, and have the latest version.
The PMX-200 is a device to interface between your computer and your
short wave receiver. It allows you to decode very weak CW & RTTY signals. You
can read more about this project in the April/May 1990 issues of Radio-
Electronics. Current pricing is available if you write to the above address.
This program may work well on other CW systems but we obviously cannot
know how your equipments' RS-232 port may be wired. We also cannot guarantee
that the interface you're using is adequate. Noise immunity is critical for
good CW performance.
CW output to the interface from the computer is sent via pin #20. CW
data from the interface to the computer is sent via pin #8. Pin 1 & 7 is wired
to ground. Voltage levels are RS-232 standard.
OPERATION
=========
The first time you run this program you'll need to run the speed test
option in the first menu. After that you can just go right into the program
(option 'A') and get started.
The program starts at 25 words per minute and in transmit mode. When a
key is hit a window will pop up and ask you what port you're using. After that
you're ready to transmit or receive CW.
Keyboard commands are as follows:
----------------------------------------------------------------
[ = go to receive mode
] = set new speed
{ = set new Com port
} = end session and go to DOS
+ = increment speed by 1 WPM
- = decrement speed by 1 WPM
For large changes in speed you can use ']' and for small changes use
'+' and '-'. After changing speed use '[' to get back into receive mode.
To start transmission all you do is start typing. You'll see that your
cursor moves to the transmit window. You'll hear a beep when your keyboard
buffer is full. With a little practice you'll get used to how far you can get
ahead.
As each letter is sent it is displayed on the screen.
Good Luck, and have fun! Please pass this program and this
documentation around in unaltered condition.
