SAVING FILES
The F9 key is dedicated to saving files and will be discussed below.
When saving a file to disk, you will always be provided with the
opportunity to rename the file before saving it. (You cannot save any
files in HELP mode, so we cannot try sample saves here.)
If you change the name of the file and then try to save it and a file
already exists with that name, you may optionally set a PC-TYPE+
toggle to inform you of that fact. PC-TYPE+ is initially delivered
with this toggle active. (See HELP file TOGGLES.)
If you attempt to save a file on top of an already existing file, you
may be asked if you want to create a .BAK file (Backup) before doing
the save. This is another toggle which may be made automatic or
turned off completely. It will only make a backup the first time you
save a file within the current active file. (See HELP file TOGGLES.)
Press the PgDn Key
(F9=FILE - Shift F9=SAVE - Ctrl F9=SAVE PART)
You may save files in PC-TYPE+ by pressing:
F9 - in which case the current active file will be saved to disk
and you will be returned to DOS if there are no other
active files in PC-TYPE+. If there are additional active
files, then you will be returned to the editing session in
the adjacent active file.
Shift F9 - in which case the current active file will be saved to disk
and you will be returned to the same file you were editing
prior to pressing Shift F9.
Ctrl F9 - in which case the MARKED area in the CURRENT active file
will be saved to disk and you will be returned to the same
file you were editing prior to pressing Ctrl F9.
