PC-LABEL
PC-LABEL is a separate program on your PROGRAM diskette. It will
accept 4 different types of source files:
(1) PC-TYPE+ Mail Merge output files (if you use the .LABEL .ELABEL
options
(2) PC-FILE database files
(3) Comma delimitted files
(4) Pure ASCII address files.
Note: The ASCII address files cannot have multiple addresses across
the sheet.
When you run PC-LABEL, Esc will normally return you to the main menu
and F10 will normally accept your input and move on.
Press the PgDn Key
Running PC-LABEL
To run PC-LABEL, just type PC-LABEL after the DOS prompt. F1 will
provide you with a few help screens to get you acquainted with the
options.
If you have a graphics card without a color monitor, add the parameter
/GREEN
when you start PC-LABEL.
If you have a non-compatible PC, add the parameter
/BIOS or /ANSI
when you start the program.
Example: A:>pclabel /GREEN /BIOS
Press the PgDn Key
PC-LABEL Examples
Four examples have been provided for you on the HELP diskette - one
for each type of file PC-LABEL will support. Each example has a
default file prepared for your convenience. To try each example,
start PC-LABEL with the following command:
(1) PCLABEL a:\pct_help\pct.lbl (for Mail Merge label output file)
(2) PCLABEL a:\pct_help\pcf.lbl (for PC-FILE file)
(3) PCLABEL a:\pct_help\ws.lbl (for comma delimited file)
(4) PCLABEL a:\pct_help\ascii.lbl (for pure ASCII address file)
Note:
Of course if you have moved your help diskette files to another
location, you should replace the "a:\pct_help" with the new path
location.
Press the PgDn Key
PC-LABEL and MAIL MERGE
When you run Mail Merge, if you define .LABEL C:\SAVE1\LABEL.DAT
the address portion of the letter as .group
shown to the right, then the address .<name>
information will be saved to the file .<address1>
you designate - in the example, LABEL.DAT .<address2>
on drive C, subdirectory SAVE1. This file .<city>, .<state> .<zip>
will be created for all three Mail Merge .egroup
modes - gathering data from PC-FILE, from .ELABEL
a comma delimited file, or from user input.
When you later want to create your labels, run PC-LABEL and select the
"PC-TYPE" labels file option on the PC-LABEL SOURCE DEFINITION screen.
You will then be prompted for the path, (C:\SAVE1 in the example), and
the filename (LABEL.DAT in the example.) In this way you will never
have to redefine your addresses.
