  2. This is the README file for disk 2 of 3.

  4. If you are installing this on a Hard Drive:
  5.  
  6.    1. Copy the QINSTALL.COM and QINSTALL.HLP file into the
  7.       subdirectory where the QMODEM.* files are located.
  8.  
  9.    2. Create a \SCRIPTS subdirectory underneath the \QMODEM directory (or
  10.       whatever you called it) and copy the *.SCR files in it.  Make sure
  11.       you update Qinstall with the scripts subdirectory name if you are
  12.       creating it for the first time.
  13.  
  14.    3. Run the Qinstall program and go through all the menus and completely
  15.       configure Qmodem.  This is very important!

  19. If you are installing this on a floppy, it is pre-installed.  To
  20. run the Qinstall program with a two-drive floppy system:

  23.    1. Copy the QMODEM.CNF file to this disk.
  24.  
  25.    2. Copy the QMODEM.COM file to this disk.
  26.  
  27.    3. Execute Qinstall per the manuals instructions.
  28.  
  29.    4. Copy the QMODEM.COM and QMODEM.CNF files back to your working
  30.       Qmodem disk.

  36. About the files on this disk...

  39. Files with an extention of .SCR are Script files.  They can be executed
  40. from the Alt-F command, called from the Qmodem command line, or linked to
  41. Function keys for fast execution.

  44. There is a special USRobotics Courier HST setup script and DOC files.  Dan
  45. Moore put this jewel together and it really is super!  Even if you do not
  46. have an HST, check this script out to see how menus and prompts can be put
  47. together.  ( Thanks Dan! )

  51. NOTE:  For those of you upgrading from a previous version of Qmodem:
  52.  
  53.        There is a CNF conversion program included called CONV-CNF.EXE. Run
  54.        this program BEFORE running Qinstall so you will not have to
  55.        recreate the CNF from scratch.  Also included on this disk are
  56.        three different FON file converters.
  57.  
  58.            CNVRT1XX.COM  Converts pre 2.0 FON to 2.0 level FON file
  59.            CNVT2023.COM  Converts 2.0-2.2 FON to 2.3 level FON file
  60.            CNVRTFON.COM  Converts pre 3.0 FON to 3.0-3.1a FON file

  62.        Depending on how old your previous version of Qmodem is (if any),
  63.        start at the appropriate conversion program and work your way up to
  64.        the 3.1a level.  Follow each programs directions completely before
  65.        moving on to the next conversion (if needed).
