- [ SHY GUY BECAME TARZAN OF THE SCENE! ] date: 12.01.2003
-
- His name was Pieter van der Meer, the kewl shy bloke from Holland sporting
- one of the longest and wickedest nicks on the globe! Earchaeopteryx, author
- of the Neurobotix game... now's he's back again to show his madness! I have
- to admit I've been a busy observer of Ear_X's career since the beginning. He
- was improving his code-skills every year and his latest "Delta" demo shows
- there are more candidates to became Tat's followers! :o) "Delta" features
- a lot of great effects, some old weard up in "new clothes" as well as
- absolutely new ones! Env-mapped stars with flares, env-mapped blobs, shells...
- gosh! You just have to see it!
-
-
- Pieter became the code-tarzan of the Atari scene, no doubt!
-
- My best congrats, Pieter! Shake up this Atari jungle even harder!! :o)

- [ XL/XE STONE AGED? ] date: 11.01.2003
-
- Do You remember the cute ST game called "Stone Age"? A few years ago, guys
- from the 8-bit Atari scene being addicted to that game, decided to start
- the "Mental Age" project. It is nothing other than an 8-bit Atari version
- of "Stone Age". The playable demo version was spread and featured equally
- neat gfx and msx as the original. As it usually happens with many "great and
- promising projects", this one has also been canceled ;o(
-
- And suddenly Slaves from Taquart revealed at the well-known atari bbs that he
- still has gfx, sources and other stuff from "Mental Age" and he's looking for
- someone to take it over and finish it! :o) Pirx, one of the scene-gods from
- the past, a well-known member of OUR 5OFT agreed to help and asked Slaves to
- send all remnants from "Mental Age" :o)
-
-
- So keep Your eyes wide open, 6502 fanatics!

- [ WOT?! PC BEING USEFUL?! ] date: 02.01.2003
-
- RASTER Music Tracker (RMT) is a cross-platform tool for making Atari XE/XL
- music on PC (OS Win9x). RMT uses new Atari XE/XL music routines which the
- author developed over a very long time. Raster hopes it will be a small
- revolution for all Atari musicians and fans. He is still working hard on the
- PC tracker part in all his spare time (it already ammounts to hundreds of
- hours of programming, debugging, testing, etc.), but currently he can present
- only limited info, a few screenshots of his work and the first experimental
- songs.
-
- Raster asks not to send him questions like: "when it will be finished?". The
- first public beta version should appear before too long.
-
- Complimentary suggestions are welcomed, as well as sponsor donations. :-)
-
-
- :::::: RMT features ::::::
-
- - Mono 4 tracks / stereo 8 tracks.
- - 254 tracks, each with its own length (max.128 beats) and with support for
- track loop.
- - 64 instruments (stereo, instrument table up to 8 steps - 2 types and 2 modes
- with loop, instrument envelope up to 32 steps with loop, portamento, filter,
- 16bit bass, volume slide, volume minimum, vibrato, frequency shifting, etc.)
- - Fully automatic management of AUDCTL register (filters, 16bit basses) and
- note portamento up/down effect.
- - Instrument envelope commands for note/frequency shifting and support for
- special "like C64 SID chip" filtering.
- - Up to 256 lines for song (with "goto line" support).
- - Beat speed 1 to 255 (1/50 to 255/50 sec).
- - Instrument speed 1 or 2 per screen (1/50 or 1/100 sec).
- - Main input/output song file format: RMT song files.
- - Input/output instrument file format: RMI instrument files.
- - Export formats: RMT stripped song file, SAP file, XEX Atari executable MSX
- file.
-
-
- Sounds promising enough, don't ya think? If all goes to plan, this tracker
- should be a huge ass-kick for the C-64 scene-brothas! :o) Is it really
- possible to kick POKEY's ass to sound even better?!
-
- Let's wait and see!
-
- Finally the peezee is a bit useful! ;o)

- [ RISIN' FROM THE ASHES ] date: 21.12.2002
-
- After 2 (two!) years of silence, members of "Tristesse", the well known 8-bit
- Atari crew from Poland picked themselves up to release the 8th issue of their
- "Syzygy" disk-mag! This scene-publication vanished from the surface of the
- earth after the fatal HDD crash where all the stuff of the magazine including
- articles and shell-source had gone to hell! This really proves that NOTHING
- can stop them! :o)
-
- So what can we find in the latest issue? As you would probably guess, all
- stuff is very varied - you can read many interesting articles including "Lato
- Ludzikow 2002" party report as well as the "SillyVenture 2k" one! It looks
- like the articles were written within 2/3 years or so... Anyway all contents
- are worth the attention, no question.
-
- "Syzygy" is surely the great source of information for every 8-bit Atari
- scener and I read it with pleasure. The only thing which is annoying me so
- much is nothing other than... language :o( Oh Yeah, it's still polish... Damn,
- I also live here, but I can't understand this move. Guys, why are you
- "closing up" in your own world? Your magazine could be a great thing to read
- also by ppl living abroad... :o( Think about it!
-
-
- ::: FINAL THOUGHT :::
-
- Never lose the faith! You can always rise from the ashes!

- [ HE WANTS BUT THEY DON'T! ] date: 12.12.2002
-
- "Eh, women" - You would think... but "Eh, Atarians" better fits this news.
- Sikor Soft, a well known Atari software publisher from Poland is willing to
- put some life into the Atari world bringing new commercial titles for these
- systems! Many guys cried about the death of the Atari market and no
- possibility to publish their software. Now they've got a chance! There is
- someone willing to pay for their work, but... nobody seems to be interested?
- ;o( Silence after Sikor's advertisement proves that we asked for this "death"
- my friends... ;o( I hope I am *REALLY* wrong here and that's why I've cut a
- message found at Atari-Area BBS and translated it to English especially for
- our readers:
-
-
- ::::::: ATARI XL/XE ::::::::
-
- Is there anyone who still cares about the small Atari? When I start to talk
- with various software authors, I have the impression they don't really care
- about writing new games for Atari. I would like to repeat that I am still very
- interested in publishing even just a couple new titles for this system! (also
- on cartridges!). Maybe my demands are just too high? Please keep in mind that
- I offer a payment for your work - not too much, it depends on the amount of
- copies sold. Unfortunately, you have to wait about 1-2 months after publishing
- each title for the cash.
-
-
- ::::::: ATARI ST/STE :::::::
-
- I am searching for people willing to write a game for Atari STE/TT/Falcon.
- It's gonna to be huge project - (graphic - 78 static screens) + objects +
- engine + intro etc. It would be nice to get in contact with a group of people
- responsible for code, graphic and music.
-
-
- please send Your offers (only SERIOUS ones please!) at:

- [ ERROR IN LINE #3 - NO ESCAPE! ] date: 08.11.2002
-
- "Ooops, they did it again!". Yup! And there is no escape, scene-folx. If you
- want to prove that Atari is still an important part of your life and you're
- not against a bit of community building in the current image of our scene - do
- your best to go over there! Let's show that we f*ck this all boring mainstream
- around! Save the Atari scene, save the remnants of our youth!

- See you all in Dresden!

- [ COMING OUT FROM THE SHADOW ] date: 07.11.2002
-
- "I am impressed. So I am back to kick your ass!". Who could say such words
- if not the legend of the polish 8-bit Atari scene? Konop, the former "father"
- of "SHADOWS" is willing to come back with another brand-new production for the
- 8-bit Atari at the forthcoming QuaST Party 2003! It's gonna to be his "answer"
- to the latest outstanding demo released by Taquart. Be prepared for a real
- treat shakin' up the Atari world!
-
- FEEL THE KONOP'S MADNESS TQA GUYS! :o)
-
-
-
- [ IM-PROPER MAN ] date: 05.11.2002
-
- Alex from Bit Busters didn't manage to finish his promising game "Mr Proper"
- for 8-bit Atari, so the game won't be published under the Sikor Soft label in
- the near future :o( As Sikor said, "Alex put this project on ice and I am not
- able to change his decision atm". Preview version of Mr Proper was spread
- around on the inet...
-
-
-
- [ LOVE TO ATARI AND BEER ] date: 06.10.2002
-
- Is it possible to unite it somehow? Who doesn't like to spend time chatting,
- accompanied by a bottle of cold beer? Sikor Soft prepared a special gift for
- every party-traveller! It's a bottle-opener with a blue Atari logo! Feel a
- pleasure of drinking beer since the beginning! Even the worst one should taste
- much better now :o)
-
- It's surely a "must have" thing for every beer addict from the fujiland!
-
- Don't hesitate to contact Sikor Soft for details about the way to order it:

- [ TQA DISTURBS RADIO BROADCAST ] date: 05.10.2002
-
- Polish alternative radio "RADIOSTACJA" broadcasted an interview with some
- authors of the VECTOR demo (FOX and X-RAY from TAQUART) on August 13, at 19:30
- P.M. It is deals with Atari 8-bit itself, writing NUMEN and VECTOR and
- similar things :o)

-
- [ FAME OF MATURE YM ROCKERZ ] date: 08.08.2002
-
- What a nice surprise! Someday I was browsing the www-sites to find some stuff
- about the Spectrum scene. And hey, what I see? The news about our famous YM
- rockerz, the chip-mastas! Here comes the original form of this message cut
- from the www-site:
-
- YM Rockerz is the best chiptune group in ATARI ST scene. Mature talented
- musicians gathered there and dedicate their songs to ATARI's YM sound chip.
- They released their first music disk "wave upon wave" in year 2000 and the
- second music disk "spinning wheels" in this May. Now all 20 tunes from them
- are available in MP3 format. You might feel the awful potential of ATARI ST,
- especially from "landflucht": an intense drum'n bass track composed by
- BODENSTANDING 2000. This is the most drastic release of the year.
-
- http://vorc.org/en/
-
- Hmm... give us more like that, our MATURE TALENTED MUSICIANS!
-
-
-
- [ THE RIVER RUNS DRY ] date: 07.07.2002
-
- The future of "NILE" project, our new multi-part demo for the Falcon is
- uncertain nowadays. Even if some graphics were already made by Moonwalker
- as well as a part of kewl soundtrack by Sea Brush everything stands still.
- I've heard that the code wasn't touched since the previous news in Chosneck
- :o( There is a little chance for "NILE" as 96ktro, but we can't give any
- release-date yet. But cross your fingers!
-
-
-
- [ THE LAST DEATH PANGS OF DYING SNAKE ] date: 05.06.2002
-
- I've been chatting with Winio/COBRA about possibility of supplying us with a
- Falcon intro for the Chosneck mag and he agreed. Probably in the next issue
- you should see the result of this promise. Winio reserved the right to release
- it not under the COBRA label against possible rumours telling that "COBRA IS
- STILL ALIVE" etc. :o) STay tuned!
-
-
-
- [ LOST IN... L.K. AVALON ] date: 03.06.2002
-
- 3d24 is a game written in 1993 esp. for L.K. AVALON's needs. Unfortunately,
- due to unknown reasons, this game wasn't published under their label. After
- almost 10 (!) years, this game was finally spread by Mr Bacardi. Where did he
- dig it up from? I really don't know but surely 8-bit Atari community is
- grateful for bringing this title out!
-
- At first look, 3d24 reminds you of the famous Robbo published by L.K. Avalon
- with some similarities with Boulder Dash as well. The graphics are
- interesting, maybe not too wonderful, but surely original. The strongest side
- of the game is music. Overall this game is worth looking at!
-
- 3d24 is available as .ATR file and you can download it directly from
- Mr Bacardi www-site:
-
- http://people.freenet.de/mrbacardi/3d24.zip
-
-
-
- [ WOAH, WHAT A MARRIAGE! ] date: 02.06.2002
-
- It looks like our humble grandpa ST is teasing console-teens! SC68 is a music
- format ripped from games and demos for ATARI ST/STE and AMIGA. Dream68 allows
- you to play them on *DREAMCAST*!. It is distributed as a bootable Nero image
- containing the complete collection of sc68 musics.
-
- http://sashipa.ben.free.fr/sc68/download.html
-
- That's the weirdest romance between two systems from really different eras!
- I really wonder what Dreamcast users think about it? I guess they won't
- appreciate this idea... but maybe I am wrong?
-
- Anyway, if you have a Dreamcast - please download this player and share your
- thoughts!

-
- [ CHOSNECK BREAKS 8-BIT'S NECK! ] date: 01.06.2002
-
- The most unread (-hard) disk-magazine known for the Falcon (due to the "killer
- config-needs") goes on the Atari XL/XE system! We are going to release one big
- issue with contents of all existing issues on the Falcon. 8-bit "Chosneck"
- should fit on 428 chrome tapes. All You need is un-powered tape recorder and
- outstanding "patience mode" turned on. The only difference between both
- versions of "Chosneck" is a little graphics. Moonwalker decided to rip off the
- "coffee cup" from the Falcon version and draw "countless coffee cups" for the
- XL/XE version.
-
-
- ...RIGHT MOUSE-BUTTON, PLEEZ?
