- [ ACHTUNG! CYBERNETIC CORPORATION GROWS UP! ] date: 18.12.2001
-
- Remo, the well-known GFA code-masta who contributed to the demo compo with
- "Coffeine Overdose" at the latest EIL party has been asked by Mc Laser to join
- tSCc. That's what Remo said: "MC Laser asked me a long time ago (I guess
- about 4 months...) but I told him, I would not join at the moment... last week
- he asked me again... and I said yes" :o))
-
- Remo is another coder after Ray who has decided to join tSCc. Currently Remo
- is busy learning ASM-lines and his intro to the current issue of Chosneck is
- his 1st REAL step in ASM-code! :o))
-
- Rumours say that some german demo group is working on a huge multi-part demo
- for the Falcon. Hmmm...

- house!). The party took place on Friday, from 30th day of November to Sunday,
- 2nd day of December in Selters/Ts, near Frankfurt/Main, in Germany. Atarians
- contributed to some compos which made the 3rd edition the coolest one so far.

- [ LET'S FIGHT! TASTE THE BLOOD! ] date: 27.11.2001
-
- After hundreds of years the classic C-64 game, International Karate+, comes at
- last to the Atari XL/XE series. The convertion of this project ain't that easy
- thing 'coz of the hardware differences between both systems. There is a need
- for changes in graphic and music datas as well as in code (well, only parts of
- code responsible for graphic and music to be honest due to the same "heart").
- Author of Atari IK+ version needs help in code during convertion from C-64.
-
- The basic tool to disassemble Atari code was the Atari800WinPLus 2.8 emulator
- (and WinVICE 1.2 for C-64). Dhor, one of the coolest Atari musicians from the
- past is willing to convert the music.
-
- The author is waiting for a helpful hand in converting IK+ to the 8-bit Atari
- If you have some spare time, and you know how to code or paint graphics and
- you would like to join our team - please get in touch! All ideas are welcome.

- [ FEEL THE 8-BIT MADNESS! ] date: 26.11.2001
-
- Fox, the code-wizard from Taquart (a polish demo-team) is currenly coding his
- new game for Atari XL/XE series. "Ah, it's probably another Arkanoid or Tetris
- clone..." you thought... Wake up, You fool! It's Vector, the 1st First Person
- Perspective game for the computer which is older than many people building on
- the current ST/Falcon scene ;o) There is a special www-site dedicated to this
- very ambitious and crazy project:
-
- http://atariarea.nostalgia.pl/vector/
-
- 8-bit Atari shows his old but SHARP nails! :o)

-
- [ Still ALIVE! and kickin'! ] date: 20.11.2001
-
- ST Survivor brought us another release which keeps our scene ALIVE! It's just
- another issue of the latest living atari disk-mag! I have a high regard for
- his scene activities. He REALLY deserves such a scene-nickname! True Survivor
- no doubt! What accompanies this third issue? first of all a Mind Design intro
- for the Falcon - it's great to see there are still some chaps around ready to
- support disk-mags with their coding-skills! The main content also keeps your
- attention, just like the delayed but funny written EIL report (greets CiH!)!
-
- The CHOSNECK team wishes all the best for the ALIVE! creators as well as their
- supporters and can't wait to see another issue of their disk-mag! :o)

- Don't forget to see the official ALIVE! www-site:

- [ KIDS, HAVE YOU BEEN TO <link=g27b.scr>ATARI PARK?</l> ] date: 19.11.2001
-
- Atari's park?! Infogrames leaves the computer market and tries their luck in
- amusement parks for kids? Competition with DisneyLand or wot?! Of course NEIN!
- :o) It's nothing more than modest follow up to the well-known Atari Messe
- shows held year-after-year in Germany. Atari's park took place from the 17th
- to 18th day of November, 2001. This time the Atari community was only a GUEST
- at the Amiga fair and that's the main reason for such a name. Anyway was it
- worth attending? Every place is good to show what's happening in our small
- world and probably the similar way of thinking encouraged the latest Atari
- supporters to come at this fair. Who was present there? Here comes the list:
-
- * Thomas Raukamp (ST-Computer, the latest serious Atari paper-magazine)
-
- * Frank Naumann (MiNT)
-
- * R.G.Faika (RGF Software)
-
- * Konstantin Woller (Woller Systeme)
-
- * Gunnar Groebel (Pink Panther Production)
-
- * Frontier Systems (Deesse card)
-
- * Ulli Ramps (R.O.M. - Papyrus)
-
- * xTOS Team (new project clone)
-
- * Eclipse creators (PCI extension for Falcon)
-
- * ATOS team
-
- * Pro Atari Computer Club
-
- * Atari Computer Club
-
- * Atari Club Colonia e.V.
-
- ...and many more!
-
-
- The fair was successful 'coz of various things happening:
-
- - The xTOS project which is really taking shape. Creators of this new babe met
- Atari coders and cleared up some unanswered questions till now.
- - the new working version of Papyrus 9 was being shown
- - Umax computers were shown working with MagiCMac
- - ST Computer was available for 3DM :o)
-
- Except that you could freely chat with mentioned people above. There was
- a short tv clip in 3sat concerning Atari's park at the fair! :o)

-
- If You want to give MC Laser a hand with collecting stuff for another
- edition of Fading Twilight - please drop him a line at:
-
- mc_laser@atari.org
-
-
- I think he REALLY deserves even a little help from us! He put a lot of effort
- into this just for our pleasure. All Fading Twilight editions build something
- like the "History of Atari Sound". Just imagine: tons of various files in tons
- of various folders! Awful job, buerk. Maximum respect, Stefan!

- [ QUASIMODOS BACK! ] date: 22.08.2001
-
- This very wellknown group on the 8-bit Atari scene in Poland is back on track!
- Kroger, the major member and coder of Quasimodos finally released their long
- awaited "Ergo Bibamus" demo at the latest Lato Ludzikow 2001 party in Poland!
- Most of effects had been written in 1996-1999 year, however most of these come
- from 1996-1997 year. Demo requires only +64KB of RAM.
- (more about this party and the demo somewhere in the mag!)
-
- Demo is available at:
-
- http://www.atari8.prv.pl/
-
-
- [ WHO SAID IT WAS THE LAST PARTY? ] date: 21.08.2001
-
- The exact date of this famous winter 8-bit Atari party has been set! "Last
- Party" will be held from 28th-30th day of December, 2001 year in Opalenica
- (Poland, what did you think?!). As usual it's possible to come one day earlier
- in the afternoon (oh yes, then prepare for wearing hundred tables, chairs and
- so on! forget it, hehe). Of course it won't be only a gathering of users but
- people who create the current image of 8-bit Atari scene. The following compos
- are planned:
- Pokey, 4chn, 8chn, Covox, Gfx, Intro, 256bytes, 4kb, 16kb and Demo compo.
-
- Entrance fee: 40zl

- [ WORKS ON 'TALES OF TAMAR' CONTINUED! ] date: 17.10.2001
-
- Atari version of this cool RPG game is slowly growing up. The latest version
- 0.25 includes many updates, e.g.: a map displaying which lets you to observe
- possessions. In the near future you will get an opportunity to move your
- people (and army later as well). Author also managed to add the screen where
- you can buy and sell various kinds of cargo. As you can see the works are
- moving and game should start to look like the original soon :o))

- [ POLISH ATARI MEETING IN STESZEWO ] date: 20.07.2001
-
- This meeting was dedicated to the Polish Atari users who want to swap their
- experiences using those machines and so on. People could buy memory upgrades
- and other hardware dedicated to the Atari platform. It had _nothing_ with the
- so called "demo-scene". Another edition took place from 20th-22nd day of July
- this year in Steszewo/POLAND. The mood at this "party" was quite nice and some
- interesting people came, just like XL/XE software developer SIKOR SOFT, PASKUD
- responsible for producing hardware for ST/Falcons and Sqward / MSB, the well
- known Atari demo-coder. BTW one of the major attractions was Sqward, or rather
- his new babe he brought - Milan ;o). He had installed a Deesse card on the
- board (not even working yet but software was under development!). Something
- rather unusual took place - "utility compo". I don't have to explain the
- meaning of this I guess? :o)) Some utils were released, however almost all
- dedicated ONLY to polish users. One of the exceptions was a simple proggy to
- tune a guitar.
-
-
- [ PARANOIA LEAVES THE ATARI SCENE? ] date: 27.05.2001
-
- The rumours about the quit of this demo-team were false! It seems that some
- people took simply too seriously the words written at the end part of "Solid
- Rock" about "switching to the C-64 scene". In fact Paranoia members are still
- working new effects, just like Marcstar and Paranoid who's learning about 3D
- mathematics. TNT is about to open a GFX gallery on the Paranoia website,
- however none of these projects is focussed on a new demo yet. WHEN and IF
- there will be a new demo is a question no one of Paranoia can answer at the
- moment.
-
-
- [ THE MYSTIC RIVER ] date: 26.05.2001
-
- "Nile" is the name of the latest MSB project which is "frozen" at the moment.
- It's going to be a new multi-part demo for the Falcon which should be released
- during the summer of 2002. Why do they need that much time? First of all every
- MSB member involved in creating this demo has a real attention to detail.
- Sqward has written a special scenario to "Nile" and sent it over to the other
- MSB members to add their ideas. And that's how it grows (or grew) up.
- Currently Sqward is busy coding on the Milan system and this eats a lot of his
- free time. But don't worry, MSB exists!
-
- Date release: summer, 2002.
- Where: between parties (probably)
-
- Stay tuned. Try at least.
-
-
- [ THE VOICE OF SILENCE VI ] date: 26.05.2001
-
- "The Voice..." was a well-known msx colly for the 8-bit Atari machines. Greg,
- the coder and musician of this project has decided to release the 6th part now
- with an additional title - "Expectancy". That's what author says:
-
- "Throughout the last 5 years except composing on the 8-bit Atari I was
- playing with MIDI. Due to the lack of PC I used my Atari. Slowly
- since 1996 other compositions were made however they weren't
- spread anywhere. The last *.SEQ module (MIDI SEQUENCER - the
- only MIDI software for 8-bit Atari) I wrote in November, 1999 year.
- I was thinking about making the *.MP3 files of it and finally
- I managed to do it. Voice of Silence VI, Expectancy, is the
- proof".
-
-
- [ FRESH AIR FOR THE ST! ] date: 25.04.2001
-
- KUA, the Atari crew from Greece is trying to make another demo this season:
- This is what GGN said to us:
-
- "This is going to be a bit bigger than my previous ones, lots of efx and lots
- of gfx will be done (although nothing too groundbreaking, mind you). When the
- time is right I shall release more info (I would right now, but I don't want
- to comit people to do stuff for me and then me cancelling the project. I don't
- like that policy. Title.... Hmmm... Don't want to reveal it!! Wait'n'see ;-)
- My target machine should be the usual: STE 1MB (Falcon compatibility I guess,
- since my previous stuff worked on the Falcon too), 1 disk (depends on the size
- of the gfx/msx, mabye 2), about 8-10 effects (sorry, I forgot how to count ;-)
- As for the rest, it's pretty early to tell. Just hang on!!! Only one effect is
- written so far :)) (Well, e-mails such as this may get me to code faster ;-))"
-
- So what are You waiting 4?! If You wanna see the new demo from KUA then drop
- a line to GGN!
-
-
- [ UNZIP FOR ATARI XL/XE SERIES! ] date: 24.04.2001
-
- CTH released an unzipper for the Atari 8-bit computer. It supports the deflate
- method, which is used by modern unzippers like PKZip 2.04g, PKZip 2.50, and
- WinZIP. It requires a minimum of 48k ram. Runs under MyDOS, Sparta DOS, etc.

- [ 8-BIT ADDICTS UNITED! ] date: 17.04.2001
-
- Forever 2e3 SE was the 2nd edition of the party dedicated to 8-bit scenes:
- ZX Spectrum, C-64 and Atari XL/XE. The party was held in Trencin/Slovakia
- from 16th to 18th day of March. Satantronic, the slovak 8-bit/Falcon crew
- was responsible for Atari section.
-
- Take a look at official Atari-compo results somewhere in the mag!

-
- [ NEW PROJECTS FROM FUN! ] date: 14.04.2001
-
- The Match, lately almost a forgotten FUN member seems to be back! Currently he
- is working on the following projects:
-
- - FUN mus player
-
- This gonna be the multi-player. You will be able to listen to the *.MOD and
- *.DTM files as well as the *.MUS, *.SND and *.TRI ones! The program works on
- the falcon 030 with 4 Mb or more in a resolution of 640*480 16 colors. The
- interface is rather unusual but it makes it more original aswell.
-
- - New game
-
- Further more The Match is working on a game called REI (which is a short of
- Real Energy Injection). It's based on the old Atari 1040 game Pipe Dream. In
- this game you are a plumber trying to make the energy flow through the level.
- There's a tankload of energy which has to be dumped in time. It's going to be
- a two player game but maybe in time, different levels will be made to make it
- a one player game aswell. The game runs on a falcon 030 4 Mb or more in
- 640*480 16 colors.
-
- I've seen previews of both projects at EIL and it's worth waiting for!
