What happened to this list? It's been quiet for awhile...well, to break the
silence I thought I'd mention that the new 808 State greatest hits album is
now out and it doesn't look very exciting....but that's just my opinion.

Where's SEAL????!!!!

Anything happen after the Trevor Horn/Seal big fight?

What happened to Propaganda's new project? Is it still going to happen?

Propaganda: Dr. Mabuse (Das Testaments De Mabuse) UK 12" ZTAS2. This is
confusing, I have another one with a white cover but it hs the same
tracks...this one has a black sleeve and all four of them on the front
cover, different liner notes and everything...does anyone know why they
released two covers with the same tracks and mixes? I might sell the black
one if anyone is interested....thanks for reading!

Folks,

There's a new album out by Pablo's Eye out now on Swim~ records (All She
Wants Wants Grow Blue).  Their press material has several references to
work with Z.T.T..  But I'd never heard of Pablo's Eye...  Have you?  A
little bit of sleuthing turned up this from Axel from the band...

Pablo's Eye put out a couple of releases on the Extreme label. It was
sound collage type stuff, kind of overrated in my opinion. Fairly artsy,
but not too terribly abstract. More info at the Extreme web site, I'm

i recently found a compilation cd called 'dance yourself to death',
released in '89. it features (among other things, such as some detroit
techno tracks from derrick may and kevin saunderson) three tracks from
808 state. 'let yourself go (303 mix)' and 'deepville' are exactly as on
state003, but 'dance yourself to death' (feat. mc tunes) is totally
different from the version on 'the north at its heights'.

my question is: where did this track originally appear ? maybe on this
mysterious state001 12" ('manchester hit squad') ? or is it exclusive to
this compilation ? according to the inlay, it is licensed from 'e-block
records'.

According to an article in last week's Billboard, ZTT and Universal Music &
Video Distribution have struck a four-year licensing and distribution deal
for the U.S. and Canada.  The first releases (due by the end of the year
says the article) will likely (?) be a new Art Of Noise album "The Seduction
of Claude Debussy" and a set (a single?) from Adamski.

Cool.  Now I gotta bug all the people I know at UNI to get some advance
promos, eh?

If I'm not mistaken, there are several differences between them, some
subtle and some not-so-subtle. The most obvious I can think of is that
the version of "Snapshot" on Daft is an "extended" version compared to
Who's Afraid Of? The completist will want both, IMO...

Completely off topic here, I think the best version of Snapshot is on the
Closely closely 12". For that one they got rid of the annoying organ
sound and kept that great background percussion, overdubbed with Italian

Ah yes - that one slipped past me, in a sense. The "Snapshot" found on
"daft", though, is from the UK release of "(Who's Afraid...)".

WTTPD+3tracks but they never delivered.  I'd expect the same with the
Propaganda release.

I got my copy through them a couple of years ago.  They're slow as
Christmas, but if something's available they can ususally get it, albeit
with a long wait.  There are probably other vendors that can get it, both
faster and at a better price though, so poke around.

I generally order my Japanese imports through a store called
Comfort. Their web page is at:

Some people on this list recommended it when 808 State's Thermo
Kings was released. I've ordered from them several times without
any problems. Their service is excellent...

I've ordered from them in the past and I got what I ordered within a
reasonable amount of time.  But I consider that luck.  They don't keep
anything in stock and when you place your order they place theirs for the cd
you request.  I'd only order from them if all else fails.

I never knew that there was a WTTPD that had bonus tracks. What are they?

If I had known about that CD, I would have tacked in on to the order that I
just sent off to Comfort. Thanks to everyone who posted/e-mailed me about
them -- their prices are GREAT! If they come through, I'll definitely be a
regular customer. They said they could get the Japanese "A Secret Wish" for

The Japanese '94 anniversary reissue WTTPD CD (WPCR-16) featured the original
LP tracklist plus two Fluke mixes:

      3:50    Two Tribes (fluke's minimix)
      5:27    Two Tribes (fluke's magimix)

Nothing there that wasn't on the '94 UK CD5 for "Two Tribes" -- and I don't
know if you'd be able to get it anymore anyway; it was superseded by another
version in 1996 (WPCR-614) that dropped the bonus tracks again.

IMO, the Frankie discs got stiffed on the Anniversary bonus tracks.  Six
tracks on two CDs, but they were ALL 1994 remixes of "Two Tribes"!  And with
all that great Liverpool-era material still not out on CD . . .

Ok, this question exposes me as a ZTT novice, but here goes:

Of the various incarnations of the Propaganda "A Secret Wish" cd, which
one(s) have the version of Duel with the lyrics from Jewel?  I have the
U.S. Island/Polygram version of the cd and it is lame in
comparison--Duel's an instrumental, no Frozen Faces, etc. etc.  I wanna
buy one of the imports, but I want to make sure it has the Duel with
lyrics.  Also, what's the difference between the Jewel I have and the
"rough cut"?

Hello all.

Lots of interesting things are afoot with the new ZTT.  Just the other day I
was wondering why Universal would sign a deal with them in the United States
just to put out 808 State and the new Art Of Noise album.  I mean, sure
that's reason enough but it didn't seem big enough to me.

Perhaps I have found the answer.  It appears that all of the old ZTT CDs
have been out of print in the US AS WELL as the UK for some time now.  What
came accross my fax machine this morning but an interesting tidbit of
information:

For release in the UK on July 20, 1998:

Frankie Goes To Hollywood - The Best Of...
ZTT108CD
UPC=5030094023222

That's all it says.  No track listing or anything.  But it definitely is a
new catalog number so one could expect (hope?) that it has a new track
listing as well.  Maybe not, but at least it's nice to know that the old
catalog stuff will be coming out again.  We can all hope for CD release of
rarities again.

No word yet on a US release. If it is coming out in the US, it won't be 'til
August since UNI has already sent out their NR book for that month.

Don't forget: 808 State Best of should be available this Tuesday in the US
(barring another delay of course).

I know that ZTT monitors this list (hi!;-) but here goes what I know.
Plans are for reissuing most of the top line ZTT catalog (Frankie, AON,
Propaganda) with perhaps new best ofs, but at the time I heard about
things not def. plans. Perhaps a Frankie box set with Welcome, Liverpool
and reload.
Most disturbing is when I asked about a remix album (one with the 12"
remixes and not the newer stuff) and was told "sure if we can find the
tapes" Urp. (did I give away too much?)

I really don't see "Into Battle" ever being issued as a standalone release.
They could fit the tracks that aren't already on Daft onto Daft, though...

single "At the beginning" with Richard Marx) participates as well. First

FYI:
If any of you had doubts buying FGTH or Holly records/items from Monguillon
Laurent [SMTP:[e-mail]], I can inform that I have recieved
all my orders: including the Hobo_Joe and Yankee_Rose 7". These I had not
heard before. A quick review would place Hobo Joe as better than Yankee
Rose, but regarding the b-sides I would reverse my opinion.
